2018 NFC North Favorite

  • Green Bay Packers +110 / Minnesota Vikings +110
The Green Bay Packers are one of the hottest teams in Super Bowl futures. Green Bay coaches have said that they wish to emulate the New Orleans Saints rushing attack from a year ago. If the Packers do that, they could be impossible to keep off the scoreboard. But, it takes the right mix of running backs and a great offensive line to pull off the Saints’ rushing attack. Green Bay might not have either heading into this season. Is Minnesota a better pick to win the NFC North at the odds? Perhaps. The Vikings have an excellent defense. They changed quarterbacks, but that’s supposed to help Minnesota’s offense, not hurt it. The big thing for Minnesota is the health of running back Dalvin Cook. If he’s healthy, Minnesota will be tough to beat. Still, the NFC North is much deeper than the odds on Green Bay and Minnesota indicate.

2018 NFC North Smart Pick

  • Detroit Lions +500
There’s no reason why the Detroit Lions should be +500 to win the NFC North. The Lions are a much better team than that. Detroit has the benefit of a new defensive-minded coach, Matt Patricia, as well as a new center in Frank Ragnow and possible starting running back in Kerryon Johnson. The Lions drafted Ragnow and Johnson with their first two picks. Patricia inherits a defense that wasn’t great last season. However, this is where Patricia’s defensive genius comes into play. He’ll teach the Lions to play bend but don’t break. On the other side of the football, Ragnow and Johnson should work beautifully with one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, Matt Stafford. Detroit is a serious contender for the NFC North Division.

2018 NFC North Longshot

  • Chicago Bears +580
Things are looking up for the Chicago Bears. Although most NFL fans believe the Bears are terrible this season, that might not be the case at all. The Bears are no favorites to win the NFC North in 2018. Chicago’s offense boasts one of the best all-around running backs in the NFL in Jordan Howard. Howard is backed up by versatile scatback Tarik Cohen. The wide receiver position is set, the QB position is set, and the offensive line is underrated. Defensively, the Bears ranked 10th in yards allowed per game. Plenty of teams have gone from last in a division to first in a division. The Rams and Jaguars did it in 2017. The Bears could do it in 2018.
