It’s tough to keep a good ball team down, and the Cleveland Indians (23-19) are proof of that old adage. They come into the new week on a 3-game winning streak, and they are probably pleased that they are starting things out on the road. The Indians are inexplicably 2 games under .500 at home, but are a very solid 15-9 on the road. They are coming off a huge sweep of the Astros over the weekend, where the offense was on fire, and scoring 16 runs through those 3 games. Cleveland will still be looking for more from Edwin Encarnacion, especially since they paid so much to land him, but you get the sense that it’s only a matter of time before he lights things up. The Cincinnati reds (20-23) were one of the surprise teams at the start of the season, but they have been unable to keep it going through the second month of the season. The Reds have been dropping games on a consistent basis of late, and are just 2-8 in their last 10 games. If there is an upside for the Reds heading into this series, it’s that they have a winning record, albeit only just, in their own ball park. While they are just 2-3 in interleague games through the early part of the season, that still better than the Indians, who are winless in 3 attempts at interleague play. Amir Garrett (3-3, 5.18 ERA) will start for the Reds.
