Okay, with that said, let’s rock and roll!

College Football Odds Predictions for the 2016 Season

1. AAC The Place to Be?

Sure, the AAC, or should I say, the old Big East Conference, isn’t known as a football powerhouse, but apparently, things change quickly in today’s times. Three teams (Temple, Houston and Navy) from the AAC all won double-digit games in 2015 while ranking inside the national Top 20 virtually all season long. Heading into the 2016 college football season, the Houston Cougars (13-1 SU, 9-5 ATS) are expected to contend for a berth in the four-team CFP after winning 13 games a year ago, but I say Temple could again unfurl a 10-win season at the very least. I’m predicting at least one AAC team (Houston) will ‘shock the world’ and earn a berth in the NCAA College football playoffs. Prediction: Houston to reach the CFP

2. Clemson to Dominate ACC?

The Tigers went 9-0 in conference play last season en route to a 14-1 finish whose only loss came in the national championship game. With gifted quarterback Deshaun Watson and running back Wayne Gallman back, not only are the Tigers expected to contend for a second straight appearance in the four-team playoffs, but to win the AAC in doing so. I’m going on record to say the Tigers will easily win the ACC in 2016! Prediction: Clemson to win ACC

3. Oklahoma a Lock in Big 12?

While Oklahoma ‘won’ the Big 12 in 2015 by going 11-2 last season and reached the four-team playoff as the No. 4 seed, the Sooners had double-digit win company in the form of an 11-2 TCU team that fell sort of its national championship hopes and a pair of teams that went 10-3 in Baylor and Oklahoma State. Nevertheless, heading into the 2016 season, the Sooners look like locks to win the Big 12 in 2016 for a couple of reasons. First, the Baylor Bears just fired head coach Art Briles in the midst of a scandal that could set the program back years. TCU is in a bit of a rebuilding process after losing Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback Trevone Boykin and elite wide receiver Josh Doctson among others. The team most likely to upset the Sooners in 2016 will likely be in-state rival Oklahoma State, but in the end. I say back the Sooners to bag the Big 12 championship hardware. Prediction: Oklahoma to win Big 12

4. Buckeyes, Wolverines or Spartans?

Ohio State went 12-1 and 7-1 in conference play to win the Big Ten last season, but they narrowly beat out both, Michigan State (12-2. 8-1 Big Ten) and Michigan (10-3, 6-2 Big Ten). The Buckeyes lost running back Ezekiel Elliott and defensive end Joey Bosa but still have quarterback J.T. Barrett running the show and a boatload of incoming blue chip talent. Michigan lost starting quarterback Jake Rudock, but returns 15 starters. Michigan State also lost its starting quarterback in Connor Cook and has to restock at wide receiver and along the offensive line. In the end, with J.T. Barrett back, I say the Big Ten title is Ohio State’s to lose. Prediction: Ohio State to win Big Ten

5. Christian McCaffery for the Heisman?

Maybe it’s me, but I thought Stanford running back/hybrid receiver Christian McCaffery was the best player in all of college football last season and he’s my pick to win it in 2016 after rushing for an insane 2,019 yards and eight TD’s, catching 45 passes for an additional 546 yards and five scores and amassing a mind-boggling 1,070 yards and one score on kickoff returns. Right now, I say McCaffery s the clear-cut frontrunner! Prediction: Christian McCaffery to win 2016 Heisman Trophy

6. Can ‘Bama Be Beaten in SEC?

Alabama went 14-1 last season and 8-1 in SEC play e route to the national championship but the Crimson Tide face challenges in replacing starting quarterback Jake Coker and Heisman Trophy winning running back Derrick Henry. Having said that, I still don’t see any other team outside of Mississippi, Florida and possibly LSU challenging the Tide for the SEC title in 2016. My final college football prediction is that Alabama will narrowly win the SEC in 2016, though it’s going to be a lot closer than most expect. Prediction: Alabama to win SEC
