F1 Betting Preview & Expert Pick for 2018 Canadian Grand Prix
Over the past six years, Formula 1 has been dominated by a pair of drivers. Lewis Hamilton has finished atop the driver’s standings in each of the last two seasons, and it’s the F1 betting favorite to win it all again, while Sebastian Vettel won the title in the 4 years prior to that. It harkens back to the time of Roger Hunt and Niki Lauda as far as a driver on driver battles go, although these two don’t have quite the same bad blood as Hunt and Lauda had back then.
This season is shaping up to be more of the same, with Hamilton ahead on the leaderboard and Vettel sitting in second. The next race up on the F1 calendar is that Canadian Grand Prix, which will go on Sunday at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Notre Dame Island in Montreal. Let’s take a closer look at the Formula 1 betting favorites for this one.

F1 Betting Favorites for 2018 Canadian GP
Lewis Hamilton (+110)
This is a race that Hamilton has won 6 times out of the last 10, including victories in each of the last 3 years. Is it any real surprise that he is the favorite on a track that he really seems to love racing on? Hamilton sits atop the F1 Driver’s Standings with 110 points and will be looking to extend his lead with another win this coming Sunday.
It really does seem as though the race for the overall crown this season is once again going to come down to either Hamilton or Vettel, and with a win this Sunday, Hamilton could start to open up a lead that might be impossible to overcome. I’m all over the favorite to win again.
Sebastian Vettel (+140)
There are going to be very rare occasions when these two drivers are not at the top of the favorites board, as they have been the dominant duo in this sport for 6 years now. What may come as a surprise, though, is that despite all his success in F1 racing, Vettel has only ever won the Canadian Grand Prix once, with that win coming back in 2013.
The German is sitting 14 points off the lead with 96 points in the driver’s standings, and he knows that he cannot afford to lose much more ground. Chances are he is going to, though, as this is not a track that has been kind to him over the years.
Valtteri Bottas (+550)
The Finnish driver is currently sitting in 4th in the driver’s standings and is perhaps a little unfortunate not to be higher. He has yet to win this season but does have a trio of second-place finishes to his name. He lost out on some valuable points at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix where he did not finish, thus picking up zero points.
Max Verstappen (+750)
The Dutch driver is down in 6th in the standings after an uneven start to the season that has seen him fail to finish in 3 of his 6 races thus far.
You cannot hope to challenge for a title if you can’t even get to the finish line. He only has one top 3 finish this year, so better to look elsewhere for value.
Daniel Ricciardo (+800)
If you are looking for a driver who might break up the top two and get a win in Montreal, then this may be the man for you. Ricciardo has won at this track before and is sitting third in the driver’s standings. He has had a pair of wins this season at Monaco and China. A very solid F1 Betting pick at a great price.
