NASCAR Betting Preview & Pick: 2018 Auto Club 400

Written by on March 16, 2018

It is still very early in the season, but as the drivers prepare to head to the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California this Sunday, a clear NASCAR Betting favorite has already emerged. Kevin Harvick will start the Auto Club 400 this weekend knowing that he has a chance to log his 4th straight win, something that is pretty unheard of in the racing game. The race will be aired by Fox at 3:30 PM EST on Sunday, March 18, and while Harvick will take to the 2-mile, D-shaped oval in Fontana as the favorite at +300, there are plenty of other drivers with a shot at knocking him off the winner’s podium this weekend. Let’s take a closer look at some of the favorites for the Auto Club 400.

2018 Top Contenders

Kevin Harvick

  • NASCAR Betting Odds to Win Auto Club 400: +300
No real surprise to see Harvick in as the favorite given what he has done over the past few weeks, but it should be noted that second best has been a common theme for him at this track. He did win at the Auto Club Speedway in 2011, but he has also been second on 3 different occasions, including being runner-up in 2 of the last 3 years. While this might lead you to believe that he won’t win here this weekend, it’s fair to suggest that he is in the best form of his career right now.

Kyle Busch

  • NASCAR Betting Odds to Win Auto Club 400: +400
Busch does not have a win in the early part of the season, but you certainly have to feel that he is due for one. He has finished second to Harvick in the last two NASCAR races and is also breathing right down his neck in terms of the point standings. If Busch is to finally get one over on Harvick this season, this might well be the track where it happens. Busch has won here 3 times in his career, including back to back victories in 2013 and 2014. He always seems to be in the running at this rack, which is why I like him to win this weekend.

Kyle Larson

  • NASCAR Betting Odds to Win Auto Club 400: +400
Larson only has 1 top 5 finish in his 4 races this season and is currently down in 8th in the point standings, but that could all change this weekend, as this is a track that he really seems to enjoy racing at. Kyle Larson is one of the NASCAR Betting favorites to win the 2018 edition of the Auto Club 400. Larson finished second in his first-ever visit to Fontana and then went one better last year, winning this very event. He led for 110 of the 202 laps last year in what was a truly dominant performance and is probably going to be up among the leaders on Sunday.

Martin True Jr.

  • NASCAR Betting Odds to Win Auto Club 400: +400
It has been a truly magnificent start to the 2018 NASCAR season for Martin Truex Jr., as he has rattled off 3 top 5 finishes through the first 4 races, although he has yet to take the checkered flag in a race this season. There is certainly reason to believe that he could add to his top 5 total this weekend, as that is where he finished this event last year. Other than that performance, though, this track has not been particularly kind to him, as that has been his only top 5 finish at Fontana. He has landed in the top 10 on 5 different occasions on 17 attempts. Just don’t see him winning on Sunday.
