Top Boxing Betting Picks for the Week – June 3rd Edition
Saturday, June 8
Gabriel Flores Jr. vs Salvador Briceno
Stockton, CA fighter Gabriel Flores Jr. is 13-0-0. He puts his undefeated record to the test against Salvador Briceno in this lightweight fight on the Valdez-Sanchez undercad. Flores Jr. has all the skills to be the next great lightweight.
Briceno is a smart, tough, skilled fighter. The last couple of times he battled a fighter on Flores Jr.’s level, though, he lost. However, this one might last longer than many believe because Briceno has so much experience even though Flores Jr. wins the fight.
Boxing Betting Pick: Gabriel Flores Jr.
Oscar Valdez vs Jason Sanchez
At 25-0-0, Oscar Valdez should have no trouble beating Jason Sanchez in this featherweight title fight on Saturday. Valdez is undefeated. He’s obviously a good fighter, but Jason Sanchez is undefeated as well.
Although 14-0-0, Sanchez has only one victory of note, a unanimous decision over Juan Carlos Rivera. Rivera was undefeated at 15-0-0 when Sanchez beat him. Valdez has the experience, but Sanchez might be worth backing here. In these lower weight classes, the gap isn’t as large between the champions and the contenders. Sanchez has a chance.
Boxing Betting Pick: Jason Sanchez
Ali Akhmedov vs Marcus McDaniel
Ali Akhmedov was supposed to battle Abraham Han on June 8, but that fight fell through. Akhmedov, one of the hotter young prospects in boxing, faces fellow undefeated fighter Marcus McDaniel in the super middleweight division.
Akhmedov is 14-0-0. Marcus McDaniel is 15-0-0. Whomever wins the match should jump into the Top 10 in either the WBC, WBA, IBF, or all three. McDaniel has a major disadvantage because even though he’s undefeated, he’s 35-years-old. Akhmedov is a much younger 23.
McDaniel will frustrate Akhmedov during this fight. He won’t frustrate him enough to get the win. Eventually, Akhmedov will catch McDaniel and knock him out.
Boxing Betting Pick: Ali Akhmedov
Gennady Golovkin vs Steve Rolls
The fight everyone wants to see on Saturday is Golovkin-Rolls. The reason the fight has generated so much interest is because the last time Golovkin fought, he lost to Canelo Alvarez. The fight went the distance.
Did that take anything out of Triple G? We must hand it to Gennady. He’s not getting back into the ring versus a bad fighter. Steve Rolls is undefeated at 19-0-0. Rolls also has a 2-inch reach advantage.
If he maintains his distance, Rolls could push Gennady in this fight. Canelo hit Triple G with a ton of jabs. Rolls could do the same. The underdog is worth a look here.
Boxing Betting Pick: Steve Rolls
