Top Boxing Betting Picks of Week – May 14th Edition

Written by on May 14, 2018

It’s another busy week for all the boxing betting fans, and we once again will be all over the bouts that are going to be shown on TV. The good news is that there are certainly plenty to choose from, with no less than 4 featured fights on the card for the coming week. We will give you a quick preview of each of those bouts betting odds, with predictions and where you can tune in also listed. There are a lot of fights to cover, so let’s get right to it.

Top Boxing Betting Picks of the Week – May 14th Edition

Gilberto Gonzalez vs. Romero Duno

It’s an early start to the weekend, with this 10-round lightweight bout set to go on Thursday night in Indio, California. You can tune into this one on ESPN3. Gonzalez is the veteran fighter here, posting a career record of 26-4 with 22 KO. It’s a good record, but he is coming into this one off a loss in his last bout. Duno is a young fighter whose last fight was a victory to get the vacant WBC Youth Intercontinental Lightweight belt. Duno is 16-1 with 14 KO, and I think he improves that record here.

Adonis Stevenson vs. Badou Jack

We head north of the border to the Air Canada Centre in Toronto for this 12-round WBC World Light Heavyweight Title fight, which will be aired on Showtime. Stevenson comes into this one as the champion, a crown that he has held since 2013, defending the title 8 times since then. Stevenson has a career record of 29-1 with 24 KO, while Jack is in with a record of 21-1-2 with 12 KO. The best hope for Jack is to take this one the distance, but I like Stevenson to end it in the later rounds.

Josh Warrington vs. Lee Selby

Elland Road is usually the home to Leeds United, but this coming Saturday it will play host to a 12-round IBF World Featherweight Title fight. Warrington holds the WBC title in this weight division and earned his sot at this title by beating Dennis Ceylan in an IBF elimination bout. Warrington is 26-0 with 6 KO wins in his career. Lee Selby should be one of your Boxing Betting picks for this week's action. This will be the fourth title defense for Selby, who comes into this bout with a career record of 26-1 with 9 KO’s. As you can see, neither of these fighters really flashes much in the way of stopping power, so expect this one to go the distance. I like Selby to once again successfully defend his title.

Gary Russell Jr. vs. Joseph Diaz

Our final stop this week is in Oxon Hill, Maryland for a 12-round WBC World Featherweight title fight that will be televised on Showtime this coming Saturday night. This will be the second defense of the title for Russell Jr. and it may be the toughest of the lot. Russell comes into this fight with a career record of 28-1 with 17 KO. He will have his hands full with Diaz who is unbeaten in 26 career fights. Diaz is the WBA titleholder in this division, and he won the WBO title in his last bout. I like him to add another belt to his already impressive collection on Saturday night, so be sure to include him in your Boxing Betting Picks.
