Run Down of the 2021 Grammy Awards

Who Won Album of the Year?

Grammy Award Pick: Folklore – Taylor Swift

Grammy Award Underdog Pick: Djesse vol. 3 – Jacob Collier

We thought the Grammy for Album of the Year would come down to either Taylor Swift with Folklore or Dua Lipa with Future Nostalgia. Our underdog pick was Jacob Collier.

We figured if the Grammy’s didn’t hand the statue to the chalk, the immensely creative Collier would get the call. The Grammys doesn’t tell us where the losers finish. So we don’t know how close Collier got to taking the trophy.

As to be expected, Taylor won. With the victory, Swift becomes one of the winningest recording artists of all time.

Who Won Record of the Year?

Grammy Award Pick: Black Parade – Beyonce

Grammy Award Underdog Pick: Everything I Wanted – Billie Eilish

Dua Lipa entered the night as the for sure winner. If Dua wasn’t going to take it, Megan Thee Stallion Featuring Beyonce, or Beyonce herself, were the logical contenders.

We though Black Parade, Beyonce’s brilliant song, was a shoo-in. The logic made sense. Billie Eilish swept the 2020 Grammys. Could she really win back-to-back?

Still, we couldn’t lay off Everything I Wanted. We made Eilish’s record our underdog choice. Wouldn’t you know it? Billie won, which means you can find value betting on MyBookie Entertainment odds.

Who Won Best New Artist?

Grammy Award Pick: Megan Thee Stallion

Grammy Award Underdog Pick: Phoebe Bridgers

Heading into the Best New Artist competition, Megan Thee Stallion was a much bigger favorite than -180. But as the Grammys pushed the event further and further into 2021, Megan’s odds became more fair.

The three artist race came down to Megan, Phoebe Bridgers, and Doja Cat. We liked Bridgers as our underdog pick. Most everyone knew, though, that Thee Stallion was going to take this. And she did

Who Won Song of the Year?

Grammy Award Pick: Black Parade – Beyonce

Grammy Award Underdog Pick: I Can’t Breathe – H.E.R

While handicapping Song of The Year, our thoughts turned to the current political climate. We’re not political at all, but Grammy voters, heck, any entertainment award voter, is.

Immediately, we crossed off Taylor Swift’s song, Cardigan. Sure, it’s a great song, but it didn’t feel like a winner.

Also, there were plenty of other great songs to choose from, including Everything I Wanted, Black Parade, and I Can’t Breathe.

We thought Beyonce offered great odds with Black Parade. Beyonce became our top pick. But our underdog pick, I Can’t Breathe, took the award. In doing so, H.E.R rewarded backers a healthy +1500.

Again, a 2021 Grammy Award result showed we can find overlay odds on possible winners. Keep that in mind as you handicap the 2021 Academy Awards happening on April 25.
