Is Jon Rahm worth backing at the odds? Which player among Thomas, Cantlay, Woods, and Schauffele offers the best odds to beat Rahm?
In 2018, Rahm shot a -20 to beat Tony Finau by 4 strokes. Cantlay shot a -13. Schauffele shot a -11. The second choice this season, Justin Thomas, shot a -8.
Rahm will be tough to beat. Of the favorites, Cantlay has a real shot. He finished second at the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children Open in early October. Some of these golfers haven’t teed it off since late August. Cantlay has a recency edge.
Thomas always has a shot. His odds aren’t great, though. So, if you’re looking for a name guy to back, go with Tiger.
Which golfer at +1200 to +2200 odds can win the 2019 Hero World Challenge?
Justin Rose fits the bill. At +1600, Rose’s odds are overlaid. He shot a -15 at last year’s Hero World Challenge. He also finished 28th at the WGC-HSBC Champions at Sheshan International GC. Rose can win this.
What golfers at +2800 odds or higher have the best shot of winning the Hero World Challenge?
It’s worth taking a shot on Bubba Watson. Watson offers high odds to win this week. He shot a -8 in 2018. If not for a 73 Round 2, he might have challenged for the win. At +4000 odds, Bubba’s an overlay.
What PGA Tournament Matchups should golf handicappers consider at the Hero World Challenge?
Take Rose over Fowler. Rickie won this tournament in 2017. Last year, he shot a -13. He could bounce back with a win, but Rose should improve off the WGC-HSBC finish.
Woods plays the long game these days. He might not peak until Summer 2020. But, we can’t pass on the odds. Tiger at even money to beat a single golfer? Take that any day!
The odds dictate this matchup as well. Beating the defending champ won’t be easy. Thomas can do it. At +115, he’s worth backing.
