Who is the best play to win the 2019 Mayakoba Golf Classic among Kuchar, Day, and Hovland?

Kuchar shot a 64, 64, 65, 69 -22 at the 2018 Mayakoba Golf Classic. Kuchar beat Danny Lee by a stroke. He beat J.J. Spaun and Richard Werenski by a stroke. Kuchar shot a +4 at the Tour Championship. Because Matt has been on the bench since the Tour Championship in late August, he’s a bad play at lower odds than both Jason Day and Viktor Hovland.

Hovland shot a -12 at A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier. He followed that up with a decent -7 at The CJ Cup at Nine Bridges. In Viktor’s last tournament played, he shot a -1 at The ZOZO Championship. Hovland deserves a long look to win this week’s tournament.

Jason Day has a chance to win as well. Day’s -7 at the CJ Cup and -6 at the ZOZO sets him up for an excellent performance this week. Either deserves consideration ahead of Kuchar and Day.

Which underdog golfer at +2000 to +3500 odds can win the Mayakoba Golf Classic?

Tony Finau finished 59th at the ZOZO Championship. He finished 53rd at the WGC-HSBC Champions. Finau shot a -14 at the Mayakoba last year. The -14 includes a 65 Round 2. In light of that, he’s a decent play at +2000. Earlier in the year, Finau shot a -18 at the Shriners Hospital for Children Open. If he rediscovers that form in this, he’ll win.

What golfers at +4000 odds or higher have the best shot of winning the Mayakoba Golf Classic?

Cameron Champ shot a -16 at the 2018 Mayakoba Classic. Champ could get the job done here at great +4000 odds. Not only that, but Champ has hit the ball well. He shot a -6 at the Houston Open in early October, his last tournament played. Champ’s the best shot to cash big.

What PGA Tournament Matchups should golf handicappers consider for this week’s tournament?

  • Harold Varner III     -105
  • Rory Sabbatini          -115

Varner III’s played well to start the 2020 PGA Tour Season. In his last couple of tournaments played, he shot a -8 at The CJ Cup and a -5 at the ZOZO Championship. Back Varner III over Rory Sabbatini.

  • Jason Day                  +110
  • Viktor Hovland         -130

Hovland offers underlay odds to beat Day. When Day’s on his game, he’s one of the Top 10 golfers on the planet. Back Day at overlay odds instead of swallowing the underlay number on Hovland.

  • Matt Kuchar             +105
  • Viktor Hovland         -125

Although Kuchar could step it up and repeat at the Mayakoba Golf Classic, Hovland has already shown he’s in decent form. He gets the nod over Kuchar.
