On the PGA Tour, there are some tournaments that are more popular than others. The majors are always going to be the top draw, but there are others that get a lot of attention for other reasons. One of those events is the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open, and most will agree that it’s all because of the iconic 16th hole, which is known as “The Stadium Hole”. The grandstands that surround this hole make it look like a baseball field, with 16,000 fans cheering every shot at the TPC Scottsdale Course. Starting on Thursday, January 31, a total of 132 golfers will hit the course looking for a share of the $7.1 million prize pool. Let’s take a look at some of the golf betting favorites to win.

When it comes to consistency over the past few seasons, there are few players better than Jon Rahm. Whenever the Spaniard is part of the field, he always seems to be hovering near the top of the leaderboard. The downside is that he seldom makes it all the way to the top on Sundays when it really matters.
Rahm has managed just 2 wins on the tour is his career, but he is once again, challenging for the top this season, finishing in the top 10 on 3 separate occasions. He may be the favorite at the Phoenix Open, but I would be looking elsewhere for the winner.
- 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open Odds: (+900)
This is a young man that certainly knows how to win, as he already has 9 wins on the PGA Tour at the tender age of 25. None of those wins have come this season, but Thomas has been good when he has played, landing in the top 5 twice already this year.
Thomas has made the cut in all 5 events that he has played this season, with his worst performance being a T3 6th in his second start. Another consistent player with a real shot at winning this weekend.
- 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open Odds: (+1200)
Over the course of the last 10 years, the Waste Management Phoenix Open has been won by an American player on 8 separate occasions. The outsider in all of this is Matsuyama, who won the other two times, back to back in 2016 and 2017.
That said, he is going to need to improve his current form quite dramatically to get the win here, as he has but 1 top 10 finish to his name in the early part of the season. That said, his T3rd finish came at the Farmers Insurance event last weekend, so perhaps that was a sign that he is ready to break out.
- 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open Odds: (+1400)
Trying to pick a winner in any given week on the PGA Tour is tough, but I always try to find the man on the best form before making my pick. Using that variable, you really need to take a look at Schauffele, as he has already picked up a pair of wins this season, doubling his total career victories in the process.
This young man has already surpassed the $3 million mark in earnings this season and looks set for a breakout year. I think he is the man to beat this weekend, which is why my money will be heading in his direction.
