2019 Preakness Stakes Betting Odds

  • War of Will +280
  • Improbable +145
  • Anothertwistafate +600
  • Alwaysmining +650
  • Bourbon War +700

Improbable

  • 2019 Preakness Stakes Betting Odds: +145

The race favorite is supposedly doing great. Bob Baffert, who has won the Preakness Stakes 7 times including last year with Justify, will saddle the son of City Zip. Although Improbable hasn’t won this year, he could be sitting on a monster performance.

Then again, he had every chance to win the Kentucky Derby a couple of weeks ago and failed to fire. He’s tough to back at the odds. Only pull the trigger if you’re a true believer.

War of Will

  • 2019 Preakness Stakes Betting Odds: +280

The horse most affected by Maximum Security’s supposed interference wheels right back in the Preakness Stakes on Saturday. Trainer Mark Casse believes if not for Maximum Security darting 3 lanes over, War of Will might have won the Run for the Roses.

He dominated his competition at the Fair Grounds earlier this year. It’s tough to come back two weeks and win the Preakness after running in the Derby. He had a brutal trip at Churchill Downs. It might be even tougher for War of Will to run right back and be effective.

Anothertwistafate

  • 2019 Preakness Stakes Betting Odds: +600

The Blaine Wright trained horse finished second to Owendale in the Lexington Stakes. He’ll probably have to improve to have any shot of winning the Preakness Stakes on Saturday. He might. He’s had plenty of time to rest and if he’s gotten bigger and faster, he could surprise at decent odds.

Alwaysmining

  • 2019 Preakness Stakes Betting Odds: +650

This horse loves Laurel Park, Pimlico’s sister track. Trained by Kelley Rubley, Alwaysmining has won 7 straight races from 7 furlongs up to 1 1/8 miles. The Stay Thirsty runner can stalk the pace, take the lead, or come off. That gives him a lot of flexibility. Unless he just doesn’t belong, he’s the one horse among the favorites that should be on all tickets.

Bourbon War

  • 2019 Preakness Stakes Betting Odds: +700

Bourbon War had no shot in the Florida Derby. Maximum Security took the lead and never looked back. Unlike many of the others on this list, Bourbon War will be ultra-fresh because he hasn’t run since the Florida Derby. He’ll need pace to chase. If he gets it, he could have a big say in the outcome, though.
