Gulfstream Park Picks for Friday, June 26
Race 6 – 2:37 pm ET – 1 Mile Turf – $100,000 Allowance Optional Claiming
Trainer Juan Avila could surprise with Forever Mo. The Uncle Mo sired 4-year-old colt hasn’t won since last August. But, Forever Mo is a closer that often runs into a pace less field. On Friday, there’s enough speed in this to set up Mo. If Avila has Mo ready, he can pull off the upset.
Renaisance Frolic goes second time for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. Saffie saddled this one to a 16 length victory in its last. Frolic went off at 80 cents on the dollar that day. Make no mistake, the Joseph Jr. runner could decimate this field. But the last was over the slop. This is a turf race and the chalk must contend with other speed.
Tizzarunner had no shot against Renaisance Frolic after they moved that event to the main track. Now back on the lawn, the 7-year-old gelding could catch its rival in the stretch. Trainer Carlos David wins 21% going dirt to turf and 23% of his turf starts. Consider for the win if the price is right.

Race 7 – 3:09 pm ET – 5 Furlongs Turf – $25,000 Claiming
Twice As Magical takes a steep drop in class. The 5-year-old, Bondetti sired mare broke her maiden in September. In April, she finished fourth in a $46,0000 allowance. Paco Lopez takes the call. If any jockey can nurse a horse on the lead, it’s Paco. Expect Twice As Magical to handle this field no problem.
Trainer Rohan Crichton wins 36% first after the claim, 19% with last maiden winners, and 30% with horses racing off a 90 plus days layoff. Is there any way we can keep Crichton trained Boston Beauties out of our exacta? Nope.
Panarea finished seventh in her first try on turf. She’s bred to love the surface, though, and the cut back in distance should help since she broke her maiden going 6 furlongs over the dirt. She can get a piece.

Race 8 – 3:41 pm ET – 6 ½ Furlongs Dirt – $62,500 Allowance Optional Claiming
The last time Liza Star ran at this level she dominated. Jockey Miguel Vasquez guided her to the front. Liza never looked back. She beat her competition by 3 lengths. She drops from the $100,000 Musical Romance Stakes where she finished fifth. Unless the bad finish was due to something unseen, Miguel should nurse her to another front running score.
Cory Gal figures to go off the chalk. The Gustavo Delgado trained miss has won 3 straight. But Gal breaks to the inside of Liza Star, giving Miguel the advantage over jockey Edgard Zayas.
Suzie’ssteppinout figures to run along for third. She’s got 2 thirds, a second, and a win in her last 4. If the two top choices run each other into the ground, Suzie could pick up the pieces. Consider for all slots on your exotic tix.
