MLB betting fans all get so caught up in the playoff races that we forget that there are other teams still playing hard night in and night out. One team that has been fun to watch this season is the Arizona Diamondbacks, as they continue to try and chase the seemingly elusive .500 mark. They will take another run at it when they travel to Cincinnati to face the Reds in a 4-game series that begins on Thursday.

No-one in the Diamondbacks (58-60) franchise is going to say that they are delighted with how this season has gone, but they might well say that they are cautiously optimistic about the direction in which they are headed. This is a team that is still a long ways away from competing for a World Series, but they have certainly taken a few steps in the right direction this season. There have certainly been moments of frustration, especially with the .500 mark, which seems to be a number that continually evades them.
They have some tough games ahead, but I’m not sure I would bet against this team getting over that mark before the season comes to a close. Patrick Corbin (3-3, 3.43 ERA) will be trying to match the scoreless effort he put in during his last start.
The Cincinnati Reds (51-66) are beginning to look more and more like a team that is just waiting for the season to come to an end. They have lost 4 in a row, and with another game against the Royals to come before this series starts, they could well be looking at 5. They are just 3-7 in their last 10 games, and other than a few good moments here and there, the Reds look like a team that is done. Cincinnati has been struggling to generate offense on a regular basis, and only managed a total of 8 runs during their 4-game losing skid.
They faced this Diamondbacks team a couple of weeks ago and ended up losing 2 of 3 on the road. John Lamb (0-1, 7.50 ERA) was roughed up in his first start, and will need to do better this time around.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bet
The D-Backs are 28-31 on the road this season, and will be facing a Reds team that is just 1 game over .500 at home. It might be a close one, but I like Arizona to come up with the win.
