Probable Pitchers

Los Angeles Dodgers – Alex Wood – L – (16-3, 2.72 ERA, 151 K) Wood had the best season of his six-year Major League career by going 16-3 with a 2.72 ERA this year. Wood will make his first career postseason start in Game 4 even though he does have a bit of postseason experience as he tossed two scoreless innings in Game 4 of the 2016 NLCS a year ago. Chicago Cubs – Jake Arrieta – R – (14-10, 3.53 ERA, 163 K) Arrieta will make his second start this postseason after limiting Washington to one unearned run on two hits in Chicago’s 5-0 game 4 loss against Washington in the NLDS last round.

Game Analysis

Heading into Wednesday’s Game 4 matchup, the Dodgers had yet to lose once since sweeping Arizona in the NLDS and bagging the first three games of their NLCS showdown against the Cubs. Los Angeles outscored Arizona 20-11 in three games and have outscored the Cubs 15-4 over the first three games of their NLCS matchup although Chicago had the more potent offense during the regular season. Heading into tonight’s Game 4, Chicago manager Joe Maddon sounded confident his team can win no matter the NLCS Game 4 Odds. “I know our guys — of course, we wanted to win one of those three,” Maddon said. “But we’re coming back, and we won’t be fazed in the sense that … this is a dire situation, [that] we can’t do this kind of thing. No matter the NLCS Game 4 Odds, Joe Maddon is confident the Cubs will prevail. “We’ll be fine. We’ve had some tough losses before that we were able to bounce back from, and that’s what I’m talking about. I had the privilege of being in the clubhouse and in the dugout with these guys every day, and now I know what they’re like. I know what they feel like and how they respond to situations, and we’ll do the same thing tomorrow.” After trotting out Darvish on Tuesday, the Dodgers will give the ball to Alex Wood in Game 4. Ironically, the Dodgers lefty was on the mound opposite Chicago’s Arrieta when Los Angeles recorded a 4-0 win at home on May 26. Wood pitched five innings of shutout ball that day while allowing just two hits and striking out eight. Conversely, Arrieta was smacked around for four earned runs on five hits, including two home runs in six innings that day.

  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Chi Cubs’s last 5 games at home

Expert Betting Pick & Score Prediction

Maybe it’s me, but it sure seems like the stars have aligned perfectly for the Dodgers this postseason and right now, I just don’t see anything slowing down their runaway express train en route to a sweep and appearance in this year’s World Series. Alex Wood has not allowed more than two earned runs in three straight starts while tossing an identical six innings in each start. Chicago’s Jake Arrieta has allowed at least three earned runs in two of his last four starts while lasting no more than three innings in each of those three-run outings and not pitching more than four innings in three of those starts. I’m expecting the Dodgers to eventually get to Chicago’s bullpen in this contest even if the Cubs do get a solid start from Arrieta. If you didn’t know, Los Angeles has gone an insane 74-33 in their last 107 games, 5-0 in Alex Wood’s last five starts against teams from the NL Central and a blistering 18-4 in Wood’s last 22 starts overall. Chicago is 2-5 in their last seven games against teams from the NL West and an uninspiring 1-7 in their last eight games against a left-handed starter. Simply put, despite the NLCS Game 4 Odds, the Dodgers will win Game 4! Score: Los Angeles Dodgers 5 – Chicago Cubs 2
