Two of the three divisions in the National League are beginning to look like foregone conclusions, even at this relatively early stage of the season. That is not something that can be said in the NL West, where the LA Dodgers and San Francisco Giants are in a dogfight that is beginning to look as though it might go on all season long. The Giants will travel to Miami this week to face the Marlins for 3 games, with the first match-up set for Tuesday night with even MLB bettingl ines.

A Quick Preview of the Even MLB Odds on San Francisco Giants vs Miami Marlins & TV Info

Time: Tuesday, 7:10 p.m. ET
Venue: Marlins Park, Miami
National TV: none
Opening line: Marlins -105, Giants -105 (7.5)

The San Francisco Giants (42-35) are currently a game back of the division leading Dodgers, and can perhaps blame a rather mediocre performance at home field as being the reason they are trailing. They are just 1 game over .500, and have only been averaging about 3 runs per game there all season long. Things have been a little different of late though, as their last 5 games on home field have yielded an impressive 38 runs. If this is a sign of things to come, they may well be ready to take over top spot in the West. They will certainly have a chance to pile on more runs against a Miami Marlins team that looks dead and buried, but they will have to guard against complacency on this trip. Ryan Vogelsong (6-5, 4.05 ERA) will be the man on the mound for the Giants on Tuesday night. Vogelsong has not given up a single run over his last 2 starts, and appears to be on for right now.

Just when the Miami Marlins (31-46) were starting to believe that things couldn’t get any worse, they quickly learned that they can. One of the bright spots on the Marlins team this season has been the performance of Giancarlo Stanton, but they will now be without his services for 4-6 weeks after he broke a bone in his hand whilst taking a swing. This is a cruel blow to the Marlins, and may even be one that extends beyond the time that Stanton is scheduled to be out. Batters who have gone down with this sort of injury in the past have found that getting back into the swing of things upon returning is not that easy. This is especially true if any kind of scar tissue is present in the injury. Mat Latos (2-5, 5.49 ERA) will start for the Marlins on Tuesday. Latos pitched 7 strong innings when he last faced the Giants back in May, but his team still took the loss on that night.

My Betting Prediction

Vogelsong is in a groove right now, and he has a solid opportunity to keep that rolling when facing a team that will be without its best hitter. I like the Giants to win this one very comfortably.
