Expert MLB Betting Pick on LA Angels vs Kansas City RoyalsDate: Sunday, August 16th, 2015 Time: 6:10PM Venue: Kauffman Stadium
It has to be particularly frustrating for the Angels (60-54) given that they are only 1.5 games back of the Houston Astros in the West, but still cannot make up any ground despite the fact that Houston are not playing particularly well right now. The Angels are just 5-5 in their last 10 games, and have seen their lead in the Wild Card shrink down to just 2 games. They did rebound nicely from their sweep at the hand of the Chicago White Sox to take the first game in this series, but they also must be aware that taking all 4 games against one of the best teams in baseball is a pretty tall order. If they are to hold onto that spot or take over the division lead, they are going to need much more out of their offense. Matt Shoemaker (5-8, 4.36 ERA) will get the start for the Angels, who have lost the last three games he has started. You know your team is good when a 2-game losing streak is considered strange. That is what is happening to the Kansas City Royals (68-46), as they have lost back to back games. As if that wasn’t strange enough, both losses came at home, where the Royals have been a totally dominant 39-20 this season. That record suggests that this is a losing run that is not likely to continue, which is not good news for the Angels. If the Royals want to take a little look at how their current season matches their historical record, they need only look at the fact that they are on pace for 97 wins this season, which would come close to matching the 1980 team that went to the World Series. Newcomer Johnny Cueto (8-7, 2.53 ERA) will get his 4th start for the Royals since coming over from Cincinnati.
