In order to win consistently, a team must be able to find the perfect balance between pitching, offense, and defense. Teams that struggle to put all three together on a consistent basis tend to be the ones that fall off the pace very early on. That is what is happening to the Seattle Mariners and the Baltimore Orioles early on in the season. These two teams will meet up for a 3-game series in Baltimore, with the first game set for Tuesday night with the Orioles listed as favorites on MLB odds.

In Depth Report on the Free MLB Betting Pick on Seattle Mariners at Baltimore Orioles & TV Info

Time: Tuesday, 7:05 p.m. ET
Venue: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore
National TV: none
Opening line: Orioles -115, Mariners +105 (8.5 runs)

The Mariners (17-20) have gone just 6-4 on their last 10 games despite getting some incredible starts from their pitching rotation. Before managing to beat the Boston Red Sox 5-0 in their last game, the Mariners went a stretch of 4 games where they couldn’t put more than 2 runs on the board. No matter how good your pitching is, you are simply not going to win a lot of games if you can’t get runners across home plate. Seattle is now 7.5 games adrift in the AL West, and are going to have to improve upon their -12 run differential if they are going to stay in the race, as it looks as though the Houston Astros are very much for real. Taijuan Walker (1-4, 7.22 ERA) will get the start for Seattle on Tuesday night. Walker has only made it past the 6th inning once this season, putting a strain on the Mariners bullpen when he starts.

The Baltimore Orioles (16-19) have struggled to find any sort of consistency all season long, and have not been able to put together 3-straight wins one time so far. They are 4-6 in their last 10 games, and are just not producing enough runs. They have managed just 13 runs in their last 5 starts, which is simply not enough in a division where everyone seems to be lighting up the score board at a ridiculous rate. The Orioles were forced to push back the starts of Bud Norris and Chris Tillman because of illness and injury, but they have to be delighted with the performance that they got from rookie Mike Wright, who threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball in his debut. It will be Miguel Gonzalez (4-2, 2.93 ERA) who will get the start on Tuesday. Gonzales has been solid, going 2-1 in his last 3 starts.

Both teams are struggling to score runs right now, so expect this to be a low-scoring affair. I think the Orioles have the pitching edge in this one, which is why I like them to get the win.
