Taking a Look at the Free MLB Betting Pick on Washington vs Colorado & TV InfoTime: Friday, 5:05 p.m. ET Venue: Nationals Park, Washington, District of Columbia National TV: None Opening line: TBA The Washington Nationals (55-51) came into this season as one of the big favorites to win it all. It was assumed their pitching staff would simply mow teams down, and that they had more than enough pop in their bats to win at a regular clip. Things have not played out as expected, though, thanks in large part to a long line of injuries to some of their offensive players. A lot of those guys are back now, but it appears as though they are having a hard time shaking off the rust. The Nationals are having a hard time getting runs across the plate, and even when they do, the pitching staff seems unable to hold up their end of the bargain. A sweep at the hands of the Mets lost them the lead in the NL East, and losing 2 of 3 to the D-Backs has made things even worse. Jordan Zimmermann (8-7, 3.54 ERA) will start on Friday, bringing a 2-game losing streak to the mound with him. The biggest headline that the Colorado Rockies (45-61) have made this season was trading away Troy Tulowitzki to the Toronto Blue Jays. There really has been little else to write about, other than the futility of this team as a whole. The Rockies have a lot of things that need to be changed in the offseason, but one of the most glaring inefficiencies can be found in the bullpen. Colorado is moving on to its fourth different closer of the season after John Axford was sent packing for blowing 4 straight save attempts. This is a team that leaks runs, and they may well be the perfect remedy for all that ails the Nats. Jorge De La Rosa (7-4, 4.87 ERA) will be the starter for the Rockies in this one.
