How to Bet on Washington at St. Louis Online MLB Lines
When a team fails to live up to expectations, there are usually a number of excuses thrown around to explain the problem. Injuries are usually at the top of the list, and the underachieving Washington Nationals have certainly had more than their fair share. That said, no-one has been hit harder by injuries than the St. Louis Cardinals and they have excelled. These two teams will lock horns in St. Louis this week, with game 2 of a 3-game MLB betting series set for Tuesday.

Both time and excuses are running out for the Washington Nationals (66-63), but it has to be said that they are not going down without a fight. They managed to put together a pretty solid record last week, going 4-2, but unfortunately not making up any ground in the NL East.
The New York Mets continue to hold on to a 5.5 game lead there, and it is beginning to look more and more like a lost cause for the Nationals. To make matters worse, it looks as though Stephen Strasburg may be hurt again. He has been their best pitcher of late, but was pulled in his last start after just 4 innings. He is not scheduled to start in this series, but has been penciled in for later in the week versus the Atlanta Braves. It will be Joe Ross (5-5, 3.24 ERA) who gets the start as he goes in search of his third straight win.
The St. Louis Cardinals (84-46) have defied the injury odds, and continue to sport the best record in all of baseball. The Cards went 6-1 last week, taking 2 of 3 from the Giants, whilst also sweeping the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 4-game series. It was a typically dominating week for St. Louis, who are getting the job done on both offense and defense. That was perfectly displayed in the 4 games against Arizona, where they scored 22 runs and only gave up 8.It has been that way all year for St. Louis, and is why they sport a very heady +137 run differential, which puts them second in that category behind just the Toronto Blue Jays. Carlos Martinez (13-6, 2.91 ERA) will be looking for back to back wins when he takes to the mound on Tuesday.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bets
All of the pressure is very much on the Washington Nationals in this series, and the odds are stacked pretty heavily against them. The Nationals 29-37 road record is simply no match for the Cardinals 46-19 home record, which is why I like the Cards to win this one.
