Kansas City Royals vs Oakland A’s MLB Lines and Game Pick

Posted by Alex Murphy on June 26, 2015 in

It’d hard to believe, but with the month of July fast approaching, we are drawing ever closer to the halfway point in the season. No-one has ever won or lost a pennant at this stage of the proceedings, but it’s fair to say that there are a few teams we can count out of contention even now. The Oakland A’s may well be one of those teams, and things don’t get any easier for them, as they have to welcome in the Kansas City Royals for 3 starting on Friday. So here’s a view at the MLB odds and other game info as we get ready for this Friday night match.

A Closer Look at the Kansas City Royals vs Oakland A’s MLB Lines, Game Pick & TV Info

Time: Friday, 10:05 p.m. ET
Venue: O.co Coliseum, Oakland
National TV: none
Opening line: A’s -128, Royals +118 (7)

The Oakland A’s (33-41) are a tough team to figure out, as they seem to go through little phases of the season where they actually look pretty good. That is what they are doing right now, as they are 8-2 in their last 10 games, yet still find themselves a very distant 9 games back of the AL West division leading Houston Astros. While it’s not outside the realms of possibility that they could somehow overhaul that lead, the question that has to be asked is whether or not this team can be trusted to continue playing well. They were, at one point, 16 games under .500, so it’s to their credit that they have cut that number in half, but it’s not enough to really become relevant in the division. This series against the Royals might well tell us a little more about what Oakland can really do. Jesse Hahn (5-5, 3.40 ERA) will start for the A’s on Friday, and will be looking to make it 4 wins in his last 5 starts.

The Kansas City Royals (41-28) continue to be the team to catch in the AL Central. While the other four teams in the division have all been slipping of late, the Royals have managed to win 7 of their last 10, helping them open up a 3.5 game lead at the top. They are in the middle of a 9-game road trip that got off to a good start with a series win in Seattle. The trip to Oakland could be a tricky one, although they did beat the A’s in a home series earlier in the season. Three games in Houston will come after this series, and you have to think that any sort of winning record over these next 6 games will be enough to keep the Royals happy and on top. Edinson Volquez (7-4, 3.33 ERA) will take to the mound in Oakland on Friday. Volquez comes into this one looking for his 4th straight win.

Key Betting Trends

Kansas City is 6-3 SU in its last 9 games
The total has gone OVER in 6 of Kansas City’s last 9 games
Kansas City is 6-3 SU in its last 9 games on the road
Oakland is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games
The total has gone OVER in 7 of Oakland’s last 10 games

My Betting Prediction

Like Volquez here, especially with A’s having to play  Thursday and travel. K.C. is off.
This actually has the makings of a pretty good pitching duel, and may well represent the best shot that Oakland ha of getting a win in this series. That said, Volquez is rolling, and I think the Royals will get the win on the road.
