There’s no such thing as a good time to go on a losing streak for MLB teams and MLB betting fans, but there are some times that are better than others. . The final few weeks of the season is not the time to go in the tank, especially if you are in a divisional dogfight. That is what is happening to the LA Dodgers right now, and they are going to have to find a way to win against the Cincinnati Reds when they meet in Cincy for a 3-game series starting on Tuesday.

LA Dodgers at Cincinnati Reds Expert MLB Odds Pick

Date/Time: August 25, 7:10 PM ET
Venue: Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati, Ohio
TV: FS-O
Radio: WLW 700
Opening Lines: Dodgers -148, Reds + 140

The Dodgers (67-56) are coming into this series on a 5-game losing streak, which isn’t all that surprising given that all of those losses came on the road. It has been games away from Dodger Stadium that have been the Achilles heel of this team all season long. The Dodgers are now just 25-36 on the road, which would lead you to believe that they could be in serious trouble in the postseason, assuming of course that they even get there. The lead atop the NL West is now down to a game and a half, and this slump has even allowed the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres to believe that they might still have a shot at stealing the crown.

This will be the last road series for the Dodgers before they head home for 6 games against the Cubs and the Giants, which is about as tough as it gets. Alex Wood (8-8, 3.79 ERA) will get the start. Wood only has 1 win in his 4 starts for LA since coming over from Atlanta.

If things look bleak in LA right now, just imagine how dark it must be in Cincinnati (51-71). The Reds are on a 9-game losing skid that actually started earlier this month when they lost 3 in a row to the Dodgers. Since then, both Kansas City and Arizona have swept them, and the only real bright spot has been the play of rookie pitcher Raisel Iglesias. He is certainly a player that the Reds can build their starting rotation around, but there is a lot more work to be done in the off season if this team hopes to be a contender next year.

Given how poor the Dodgers are on the road, Cincinnati has to be looking at this series as a real opportunity to break out of their slump. John Lamb (0-1, 6.05 ERA) will be in the mound for the Reds. His first career start, and first career loss, came at the hands of the Dodgers a couple of weeks back.

The Dodgers may not be a very good road team, but they have already beaten this pitcher once already this season, and I think they can do it again to get back to winning ways.
