MLB Betting Lines on Baltimore Orioles at Boston Red Sox
The first couple of months of the MLB betting season saw the AL East emerge as one of the most competitive divisions in baseball. It certainly wasn’t home to the best teams in the league, but there were a ton of runs, and a group of teams that were never more than a couple of games apart, top to bottom. The cream has started to rise to the top, though, and the Boston Red Sox have fallen right out of things. They will finish up a 3-game series with the division rival Baltimore Orioles on Thursday afternoon. The Red Sox (31-41) have fallen hard and fast, and now find themselves 9.5 games out of first place.

There was always some doubt as to what this team was going to be this season, with first and last place finish predictions pretty much split right down the middle. There was a time in the early part of the season when it looked as though they might be competitive, but that seems like a million years ago right now. The runs have almost completely dried up, and it appears as though things are far from happy in the locker room. The further Boston slides down the standings, the more likely they are to be sellers when the trade deadline comes around in July. Eduardo Rodriguez (3-1, 3.13 ERA) will be on the mound for Boston on Thursday. Other than 1 bad outing against the Blue Jays, Rodriguez has looked pretty solid through his first 5 starts.
The Baltimore Orioles (37-33) have benefited more than most from the parity in the division this season. They experienced a number of ups and downs as they tried to stay in touch with some of their bigger names on the DL. They are now as close to full strength as they have been all year, and it is starting to pay dividends. They have won 3 in a row, are 7-3 in their last 10 games, and now find themselves just 2.5 games out of first place. If they can continue playing as well as they have been over the past couple of weeks, there is no reason why they shouldn’t be able to find themselves on top of the division when the All-Star Break rolls around. Miguel Gonzalez (5-4, 3.33 ERA) will start for the O’s on Thursday. Gonzalez will be making his first start back after injury. His last star came against Boston earlier this month, and he threw a beauty, albeit only for 4.1 innings.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bets
Gonzalez has had 3 starts against Boston this season, and has helped his team win 2 of them. I like the Orioles to get the win again in what may well be the completion of a sweep.
