Milwaukee vs Washington MLB Betting Spread Report
We have all seen movies and TV shows where someone is trying to bring a dead person back to life by pounding on their chest and screaming “Don’t you die on me.” It may not be playing on our TV’s, but you can bet that’s what it feels like in Washington right now. The Nationals are seeing their postseason dreams fade away, and they need to have a good series against the Milwaukee Brewers this weekend if they don’t want to be declared DOA. The opening game of that MLB betting series will go on Friday night in Washington.

It’s really beginning to look as though the Nationals (60-59) are going to have to win the NL East if they have any shot at getting into the playoffs. They are 3.5 games behind the Mets there, which is a whole lot more manageable than the 7.5-game deficit they have to try and overhaul in the Wild Card race. The Nats are showing signs of life, as they have won back to back games in Colorado after losing 6-straight before that series started. Completing the sweep on Thursday would give them a pretty nice boost of confidence before facing a Brewers team that they really should be able to beat. The Nationals have a very favorable schedule in the final few weeks, with a bunch of games against opponents well below the .500 mark. That’s why it might not be smart to count them out just yet. Gio Gonzalez (9-5, 3.86 ERA) will start for Washington on Friday, and will need to bounce back after a dreadful start last time out.
On paper, the Milwaukee Brewers (52-70) may look like a pushover, but this is a team that you disregard at your own peril. They may be losing a lot of games, but they are going down fighting on most nights. They have had a pretty tough second half schedule, but have still managed to take some scalps along the way, including a 3-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Brewers are playing .500 ball right now, and while that may not seem so impressive, you have to keep in mind that it’s a whole lot better than what they have delivered for the majority of the season. Jimmy Nelson (9-9, 3.61 ERA) is coming into this game unbeaten in his last 3 starts.

I expect the Nationals to win this series, but I don’t see them getting the sweep. If they are going to lose one, this is the game where it is likely to happen.
