MLB NL Pennant Odds Update – September 13th

Written by on September 12, 2017

We are now down to the final couple of weeks of the MLB season, and the playoff picture is beginning to take real shape. This is particularly true in the National League, where the Wild Card race is not quite as tight as it is over in the American League. We have a pretty solid idea of which NL teams will be playing in the postseason, and that has caused the bookies to update their betting odds to win the NL Pennant. We thought that now might be a good time to give you those updated odds, as this may be the best price that you are going to get for the teams who are among the favorites in the National League. Let’s take a closer look at those teams, their odds, and their chances of winning the NL pennant and going to the World Series.

MLB National League Pennant Odds Update – September 13th

LA Dodgers

The Dodgers have the best record in baseball right now, but you have to wonder if they are going to end the season in that same position. A team that looked unbeatable a month ago now cannot seem to win a game. They are on an 11-game losing skid, and while they are still a shoe-in to win the NL West, it’s tough to see how they are going to rebound from this losing run. That said, there is still some time for them to turn things around and get back to winning ways. If they are to win the National League pennant, you get the sense that they need to get some of their swagger back prior to the end of the season.NL Pennant Odds: +110

Team Statistics

  • Average Score For 4.77
  • Offensive Hits 8.40
  • Offensive Walks 3.99
  • Average Score Against 3.62

  • Defensive strikeouts 9.59

Updated MLB Odds to Win NL Pennant – September 12th

Washington Nationals

The Nationals are a tough team to peg, simply because they haven’t really been seriously tested this season. They have the benefit of playing in one of the worst divisions in baseball, and essentially had the NL East crown all locked up by the All-Star Break. That said, the Nationals have remained consistently good all season long, and have compiled solid winning records at home and on the road. Given their dominance in the division, they have gone somewhat under the radar, but only have 4 less wins that the Dodgers at this stage of the season.NL Pennant Odds: +250

Team Statistics

  • Average Score For 5.23
  • Offensive Hits 9.24
  • Offensive Walks 3.36
  • Average Score Against 4.13
  • Defensive Hits 8.06
  • Defensive strikeouts 8.93

Chicago Cubs (+300)

The defending world champions have not had a particularly smooth season, and are currently clinging to a 2-game lead atop the National League Central. On the other hand, their odds seem a little kind at this point, as failing to win the division would more than likely mean that they would miss out on the postseason. That said, the Cubs are a talented group, and they have already proven that they know how to win when the going gets a little tough. If they can win the division and get into the postseason, you can bet that they will be a team that no-one will relish facing.

Team Statistics

  • Average Score For 4.94
  • Offensive Hits 8.59
  • Offensive Walks 3.75
  • Average Score Against 4.45
  • Defensive Hits 7.99
  • Defensive strikeouts 8.76

Arizona Diamondbacks (+600)

The Arizona Diamondbacks are going to be the team to beat, although they are going to need to do things the hard way if they are to win the National League pennant. For me, the Arizona Diamondbacks are going to be the team to beat, although they are going to need to do things the hard way if they are to win the National League pennant. Thus, Arizona are not going to be able to catch the Dodgers, who have a 9-game lead in the West right now, but they will almost certainly be hosting the Wild Card game in the NL.Moreover, this is a team that is on a very good run of form right now, which is exactly the time of year when you really want to start putting things together on the field. They are my dark horse pick for the pennant.NL Pennant Odds:

Team Statistics

  • Average Score For 4.96
  • Offensive Hits 8.67
  • Offensive Walks 3.53
  • Average Score Against 4.01
  • Defensive Hits 8.10
  • Defensive strikeouts 9.24

Colorado Rockies (+1200)

It’s beginning to look as though the Rockies are going to sneak into that final Wild Card spot in the National League; hence, and while that would be a good accomplishment for this group, it is probably as far as they are going to go in the postseason. They would need to start out with a game on the road to Arizona, which is one I think they are doomed to lose.

Team Statistics

  • Average Score For 5.12
  • Offensive Hits 9.33
  • Offensive Walks 3.15
  • Average Score Against 4.78
  • Defensive Hits 8.99
  • Defensive strikeouts 7.85
