As the new week in baseball betting rolls along, we continue with interleague play, which allows teams to test themselves against others that they don’t normally see. For teams on the slide, getting out of their conference sometimes serves as a way to break out again. That is certainly what the Philadelphia Phillies were hoping for when they headed to Baltimore to face the Orioles. Things have not started well, though, and Philly will be hoping that changes when they head home on Wednesday to continue the 4-game series.

Not much was expected of the Philadelphia Phillies (22-43) coming into the season, and they have certainly lived down to those expectations. Hitting and scoring runs has been an issue for this team since day one, and there is no indication that things are about to change anytime soon. They are the only MLB team that has not scored more than 200 runs this season, and their -95 run differential is far and away the worst in the league. They lost the opening game in this series 4-0 in Baltimore, which should come as no real surprise since they have only won 7 games on the road this season. That last defeat saw them extend their losing streak to 7 games, and their road losing streak to 11. Kevin Correia (0-1, 0.00 ERA) will start for Philly on Wednesday.
If you want to talk about a complete reversal of fortune, look no further than the Baltimore Orioles (32-31), as they are now over .500 and launching an attack on the top of the AL East. The fact that the O’s are now totally healthy suggests that this is in fact the team that we should have been getting all season long. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games, and are now just 3 games back of the Tampa Bay Rays for first in the division. Their cause was certainly helped last week by winning 5 of 6 against the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. A good outing in this 4-game series may well see them close the gap even further at the top. Ubaldo Jimenez (4-3, 3.19 ERA) will start, and will be looking to make it back to back wins.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bets
The Phillies are nothing short of awful, which is bad news for a team about to face one of the hottest squads in baseball right now. Look for the Orioles to keep the good times rolling with another win here.
