Only 10 teams will actually get to play more games after the regular season comes to a close, and as painful as it may be for them and their MLB betting fans, all the others still have to complete their 162-game schedule. The Milwaukee Brewers and the San Diego Padres have not been part of the postseason conversation for quite some time, and both will try to restore some pride when they hook up in San Diego on Wednesday night.

The Milwaukee Brewers (66-90) may be one of the few bottom dwellers in the league who are actually looking forward to next season. They have used the ability to expand their roster to call up a bunch of hot prospects, all of whom have delivered in a big way. You need only look at how well the Brewers performed in a recent 4-game split with the Cardinals to see that this is a team that is not that far away from being very good. The idea that you can’t win with a lot of young guys on the team has been pretty much debunked by the Chicago Cubs this season. The hope in Milwaukee is that their young guys can replicate the success of the gang from the Windy City once the 2016 season gets underway. Zach Davies (2-2, 4.67 ERA) is coming into this one off a brilliant performance versus those young Cubs.

The San Diego Padres (73-83) are going to have to end their season in Dodger Stadium, where they will be forced to endure a 3-day celebration from a fan base headed to the postseason. The Padres came into this season with high hopes, as they had brought in a lot of big name guys in the offseason. This was a team that failed to properly gel, though, and while they hung around in the Wild Card race for a little while, they never really looked as though they would be able to put together the sort of run that would make them serious contenders.

We can probably expect another series of sweeping changes in this offseason, and a new look Padres in 2016. Andrew Cashner (6-15, 4.21 ERA) will be on the mound for the Padres on Wednesday night.
