MLB Odds Preview on Cleveland Indians at Chicago White Sox

For the first few weeks of the season, it looked as though the AL Central division was going to turn into a 2-horse race between the Tigers and the Royals, but a pair of charging teams has turned the division race into a much tighter affair. One of teams on a tear is the Chicago White Sox, and they will try to close the gap at the top when they take on the bottom placed Cleveland Indians in a 4-game home stand. Game 3 of the series is set for Wednesday night, so lets get into the MLB betting odds for this match.

It wasn’t so very long ago that the Chicago White Sox (18-17) were sitting with the worst run differential in the American League and floundering to stay afloat in the division. They have turned things around in pretty dramatic fashion over the past couple of weeks, going 8-2 in their last 10 games, which includes their current 6-game win streak. Yes, the run differential is still sitting at -28, but the number they are more concerned with right now is the number of games behind first place, which now sits at just 4.5. The White Sox have won their last 4 series, including a sweep of the Oakland A’s, and look as though they are finally getting their act together. Carlos Rodon (1-0, 4.96 ERA) will take to the mound on Wednesday night, and will be looking to improve on his last outing, where he was chased after just 4 innings.

The Cleveland Indians (14-23) appear to have dug themselves a hole from which there is likely no return. They have shown some signs of life lately, though, as they were competitive in a 2-1 series loss to the red hot Cardinals before beating Texas 2-1 in their last series. They did lose the opening game of this 4-game set versus the White Sox, but again, it was a tight game that could have gone either way. It’s not necessarily that the Indians are a truly horrible team, it’s more to do with the fact that they have had struggles in different facets of their game that have prevented them from being able to put any sort of consistent run together. Shaun Marcum, who has only pitched 5 innings all year, will get the start for the Indians on Wednesday night.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bets

The White Sox are hot right now, and you get the feeling that they just might be able to get to Marcum pretty early on. There is a chance this one could get ugly, which is why I think Chicago will keep things headed in the right direction in this one.
