The LA Dodgers (24-15) have more pressure heaped upon them than most, but it is pressure of their own making. When you spend as much money on payroll as the Dodgers do, there is a certain expectation level that comes with that. Through the early part of the season, the Dodgers have been living up to the money being spent, but the last week or so has proven that it’s not going to be a particularly easy ride. The Dodgers are just 5-5 in their last 10 games, and continue to underperform when they have to go on the road. The series against the Padres will mark the start of a 6-game home stand where the Dodgers will be looking to get things back on track after a shaky week or two. Zack Greinke (5-1, 1.52 ERA) will get the start for the Dodgers. His numbers tell you all you need to know about how great he has been playing this season, although he did have a bit of a rough start last time out.The Padres (20-21) were doing a pretty good job of keeping pace with the Dodgers and Giants in the division, but have gone on 4-6 run in their last 10 that has them now sitting 5 games out of first place. The Padres have had a pretty miserable home stand, and may actually be looking forward to going on the road to face the Dodgers. They were pretty much blown out of the water in a 3-1 series loss to the Nationals, and are in danger of losing a series to the Cubs on Thursday. A win in the final game of that series could have them heading out feeling a little bit better about themselves. Andrew Cashner (1-7, 3.24 ERA) will get the start for the Padres on Friday, and he has been a whole lot better this season than those numbers would suggest.
