Online MLB Betting Pick on Milwaukee at Pittsburgh

Good teams are able to focus on every series that they play, even when it’s one that comes against a team that they should beat handily. This gets a little tougher to do when you have your playoff ticket booked, and are just trying to make it to the end of the season without getting anyone hurt. That is the situation that the Pittsburgh Pirates and their MLB betting fans will be in when they welcome in the Milwaukee Brewers for a 4-game series starting on Thursday.

The Pirates (82-55) will be looking to exact a little revenge in the Brewers, as they were swept by the men from Milwaukee to open the month of September. The sweep actually seemed to signal the beginning of a pretty shaky period for the Pirates, as they are just 3-5 this month before heading into the final game of a series with the Reds on Wednesday night. This is not a reason for alarm bells to start ringing in the Steel City, though, as this is likely nothing more than a minor slump that the Pirates will be able to pull out of quite easily.

They will want to start winning again soon, though, as the Cubs are charging hard, and may pass them in the division and Wild Card standings. A.J. Burnett (8-5, 3.06 ERA) will be looking to break out of a slump of his own, having been the loser in his last 2 outings.

Don’t look now, but the Milwaukee Brewers (61-77) seem to have found themselves a new lease on life as they head down the stretch. They are a very solid 7-3 in their last 10 games, and are showing signs that the future in Milwaukee may be a whole lot brighter than it has been for a while. The new kids in town are playing their part in this good run of form, but they are also getting great input from Ryan Braun, who is hitting .448 in his last 7 starts, with 1 HR, 4 RBI, and 4 SB to his name.

It’ll be interesting to see how long this good form lasts, as the Brewers have an incredibly tough schedule over the final couple of weeks. Realistically, if they can come through that stretch with a .500 record, you can bet their fans will be pleased. Wily Peralta (5-8, 4.21 ERA) will be on the mound for the Brewers in this one.

Key Betting Trends

  • Milwaukee is 5-13 SU in its last 18 games on the road
  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Milwaukee’s last 5 games on the road
  • Pittsburgh is 3-6 SU in its last 9 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 6 of Pittsburgh’s last 8 games

Consider This Before Placing Your Bet

It’s going to be difficult for the Brewers to match the success that they had against the Pirates the last time they met, and I think that will be evident from game 1, with the Pirates getting the win.
