Online Betting Preview on New York Mets at Atlanta Braves

If you want to be competitive in sports, you need to be able to address your team’s problems and change them in a way that will lead to improvements. The New York Mets, who didn’t really have a great offense in the first half of the season, have turned that around in a big way in the second half. They will try and lay the lumber to the Atlanta Braves when they hook up at Turner Field on Saturday, going in as favorites in the MLB betting odds.

If you want to talk about offensive power, you now have to bring the New York Mets (79-61) into the equation. Going back to July 25th, the Mets have scored the most runs and hit the most homers, whilst also leading the way in slugging percentage. They now have the ability to really hurt teams with their bats, and when you combine that with a pitching staff that has been in a groove all season long, you get a team that could make some real noise in the playoffs.

It says something about the history of this franchise that people have been sitting around and waiting for them to collapse. The sweep of the Washington Nationals earlier in the week seems to have put that to rest, as the 7.5 game lead atop the NL East now looks untouchable. Noah Syndergaard (8-6, 3.31 ERA) will get the start for the Mets on Saturday.

Few franchises have fallen harder or faster than the Atlanta Braves (56-85) over the past couple of years, but that was to be expected since it was made very clear that this was a team in transition. This is usually what happens when you have a new stadium being built, as you don’t want to spend any money on big name signings until the ribbon has been cut on the new building. What that all means is that the Braves fans can likely expect more of the same next season. There are some small pieces being put in place already, with Hector Olivera being touted as the next big thing. He has got off to a decent start in his first few games, but the jury will remain out until he plays a full season. Williams Perez (5-6, 5.42 ERA) broke out of a pretty awful slump with a win in his last start.

This is a mismatch of the highest order, and the Mets have already shown that will spare no mercy, taking the first game in this series 8-2. I expect to see more of the same on Saturday.
