Pittsburgh vs Colorado MLB Opening Lines
At this stage of the season, the teams who are a mortal lock for the playoffs may take a different approach to the series they play. They may look at winning each series as a bit of practice for postseason play, and if that is indeed the case, then the Pittsburgh Pirates appear to be in very good shape for the joy of MLB betting fans. They will try to keep their series winning streak going when they welcome in the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.

Venue: PNC Park, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Opening Run Lines: Pirates -230, Rockies +212
The time that the Pirates (76-49) have to catch the Cardinals atop the NL Central is running out, and it’s beginning to look more and more as though the Wild Card is going to be the route they have to follow. The gap at the top is just 4.5 games, but the Cards just don’t seem to have a long losing streak in them at this point. All the Pirates can do is continue to plug away and try to win series, which is what they are doing. Since losing 2 of 3 games to the Cards earlier this month, the Pirates have gone unbeaten in 4 straight series.
Even if they lose to the Marlins on Thursday night, which seems highly unlikely, they will still come away with a split. Make no mistake, this is a very good team that could do some real damage come playoff time. Francisco Liriano (9-6, 3.23 ERA) will start for the Pirates, who have won the last 11 games he has started.
It has been a season to forget for the Colorado Rockies (51-74), as they have struggled to get wins no matter where they play. They are coming into this series on a bit of a high after taking back to back games off the Atlanta Braves. That was a much-needed morale boost after the club house was rocked earlier in the week. Jose Reyes, who came over to Colorado in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays, essentially made it clear that he was not happy with life in Colorado.
This is a guy who wants to win, and he doesn’t feel that he will have the opportunity to do that with the Rockies. Jon Gray (0-0, 5.94 ERA) will make his 5th start of the season, and is coming off a very poor showing in his last outing.

You hate to guarantee a win, but this is a game that is as close to a guarantee as it gets. The Rockies are awful, and the Pirates are not, it’s really as simple as that.
