Having a win percentage over .600 in the MLB is generally a sign that you have a very, very good ball club. To this point in the season, there are only 2 teams that can claim to be above that mark, and they are very good teams indeed. The Kansas City Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals are the teams in question, and they will meet in St. Louis for a makeup game on Thursday night. Check the updated MLB odds here.
Kansas City Royals vs St. Louis Cardinals MLB Betting LinesDate/Time: Thursday, July 23, 7:15 PMVenue: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MissouriTV: FSKCRadio: KCSP 610Opening MLB Odds: St. Louis -142 If there was any team that needed the All-Star break more than anyone else, it had to be the St. Louis Cardinals. This is a team that has had to endure more than its fair share of major injuries, whilst still finding a way to win on a regular basis. That all seemed to be catching up with them, though, as they went into a bit of a tailspin to end the first half. The break seems to have worked wonders for them, though, as they have come out and won 3 of 4 to start the second half. The bats appear to have warmed up again, as they have posted 24 runs through those first 4 games. This is the last really tough game that the Cards have before going on a 16-game run against teams with sub .500 records. John Lackey (8-5, 2.90 ERA) will get the start on Thursday in search of back to back wins. While the Cardinals have a pretty relaxed schedule to look forward to after this one, the Kansas City Royals (56-36) cannot say the same thing. They got the second half rolling by taking 3 of 4 from the Chicago White Sox, and have followed that up by splitting the first 2 games in their series with the Pirates. After this one-off game, they have Houston, Cleveland, Toronto, and Detroit on tap, none of which can be classified as series that will be easy to win. Stretching back to last season, though, this is a team that has made a habit of winning tough series, so there is no reason to believe that they are going to start tanking now. The Royals may have been considered something of a surprise team last season, but they are not sneaking up on anyone this time around. Chris Young (8-5, 3.03 ERA) will get the start in this one.
