Purists of the game will roll their eyes when they score that run into the double digits, as they much prefer a good old-fashioned pitching duel. For MLB betting fans of teams who are struggling, those high-scoring games might serve as the only real form of entertainment they get all year. The Colorado Rockies are involved in those types of games more often than not, and they are now in the midst of a series with a St. Louis team who often rely on great pitching to dominate. The third game in this series is set for Wednesday night in Colorado.

St. Louis Cardinals at Colorado Rockies MLB Lines Prediction & Game Info
Time: Wednesday, 3:10 p.m. ET
Venue: Coors Field, Denver
National TV: none
Opening line: Cardinals -115, Rockies +105 (10.5)
The Rockies (26-30) may be anchored at the bottom of their division, but you can’t argue with the fact that their games are fun to watch. They are scoring an average of 4.5 runs per game, which is great, but they are giving up an average of 5 runs per game, which is not so good. The first game in this series is an example of what you get with the Rockies, as they were able to deliver an 11-3 hammering to the Cards. By the time Wednesday rolls around, they might well have lost the second game 9-6. That’s just the kind of team they are. While it’s fun for the casual viewer to watch, it’s not really a recipe for success, hence their position in the NL West cellar. Chad Bettis (2-0, 2.70 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Rockies on Wednesday. Colorado has won all 5 games that Bettis has been a part of this season.
The Cardinals (38-20) are having a wonderful season so far, and it is all the more impressive when you consider that they have suffered a few major injury blows along the way. The loss of Adam Wainwright for the year is undoubtedly the biggest, but Jaime Garcia has filled that gap admirably to this point. St. Louis now has a pretty comfortable 6.5 game lead atop the division, and have never really looked like relinquishing that at any time. Their 6-4 record in the last 10 games would actually be considered something of a slump when you look at how they have performed the rest of the way. Carlos Martinez (6-2, 2.94 ERA) will get the start for the Cardinals in the third game of this series. Martinez is hot right now, going 3-0 in his last 4 starts.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bets
This was always going to be a series that was the Cardinals to lose, and they will have to win the final two games to get the series victory. I certainly think they will get the win in this one.
