St. Louis Cardinals vs Chicago White Sox MLB Lines Preview
It seems that every year, a team who dominated in the first half sees their entire season fall part in the second half of the MLB betting season. The St. Louis Cardinals were the dominant team in the opening portion of the season, although they ended it on a little bit of a low note. They will be looking to get back on track in the second half, and will open up a 2-game series on the road on Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox.

It seems as though the break came at the right time for the Cardinals (58-34), as they came back and took 2 of 3 from a very good Mets team. They will be pleased to have another day off on Monday, though, as the third game in that Mets series went a mammoth 18 innings, with the New York side getting the win in the final game. The Cardinals put in a solid defensive effort to start the second half, giving up just 7 runs in what essentially amounted to 4 games. This is actually something of an odd week for the Cardinals, as they have this short series to start the week, followed by a single make-up game against the Kansas City Royals. They will then head into the weekend with a series against the Atlanta Braves. These games are all winnable, although the Royals game could certainly be a little tougher. The Cardinals have yet to settle on a pitcher for the Tuesday game.
A couple of weeks before the end of the first half, it seemed almost certain that the White Sox (42-48) would be selling come trade deadline time. That all changed when they won 9 of 12 games before the break. The pitching seemed to come to life out of nowhere, but it has fallen off again to start the second half, which Chicago started by dropping 3 of 4 to the Royals. In fairness, that came against one of the best teams in the league, but they are now going to have to face two more against a very good team. Another couple of losses here could once again have White Sox management thinking about being sellers at the deadline. Carlos Rodon (3-2, 3.80 ERA) will start for Chicago on Tuesday, and will be looking to build on the great performance he delivered in his last start.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bets
The rough ending to the first half of the season now seems like a long time ago, as the Cardinals appeared to get some of their mojo back against the Mets. I like them to continue rolling with a win in this one.
