MLB Betting Odds & Trends: Miami Marlins vs St. Louis Cardinals
When it comes time to make a bet, we all look at the upcoming games on paper before deciding where our money should go. Things don’t always go to plan, though, which is why you really have to be careful when wagering. The St. Louis Cardinals playing at home against the Miami Marlins may look like a sweep in the making, but you can never be too careful. Game 1 of that series is set for Friday, so let’s take a closer look at what we can expect in the MLB betting odds.

The St. Louis Cardinals (73-40) are almost always the favorite when they play, and for very good reason. This is a team that has made a habit of winning, even when they have had to deal with injuries that might cripple other teams. Baseball fans have spent the entire season saying that the pace they are setting cannot be continued, yet they just keep on doing it. The Cardinals are 7-3 in their last 10 games, and have the chance to sweep the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday night. If they can do that, they will take an 8-game lead that will essentially lock up the division crown. There is always the possibility of a letdown after winning a series of that magnitude, but that is not something that the Cardinals have fallen prey to this season. Jaime Garcia (4-4, 1.77 ERA) has been lights out in his last few starts, giving up just 5 earned runs in his last 6 outings.
There can be no denying that the Miami Marlins (46-68) are a team in total disarray. They used the trade deadline to essentially get rid of everything they had of value, and are now putting together a record that is worthy of their lack of quality. Yes, they are coming into this series on a 3-game win streak, but those wins came against the Braves and the Red Sox, neither of whom are exactly tearing things up. Let’s give the Marlins a little bit of credit, though, as they did manage to score an impressive 23 runs in those 3 games. They are going to be hard pressed to repeat that sort of offensive output against the Cardinals, especially given how well Garcia has been pitching. Tom Koehler (8-9, 3.75 ERA) will be the man in charge of keeping the Cardinals offense off the board.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bet
There is always the possibility that the Marlins might sneak a win in this series, but I don’t think this will be the game where it happens. Garcia looks like the man to silence those Marlins bats.
