Tampa Bay vs New York MLB Odds Preview
With so much attention being placed on the exciting race between the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees in the AL East, it might make you forget that there are other teams in the division with playoff hopes still alive and well. The Tampa Bay Rays are one of those teams, and they will try and help their Wild Card cause when they close out a series against the Yankees in New York on Sunday. Find the latest MLB run lines here.
Tampa Bay Rays vs New York Yankees MLB Odds Preview
Date: Sunday, September 06, 2015

— Tampa Bay Rays (@RaysBaseball) September 4, 2015
The Rays (66-67) have some work to do, and a few teams to overtake, if they are to somehow jump into that final Wild Card spot. They are 4.5 games off the pace right now, and a 4-6 record in their last 10 games is doing very little to help them close the gap. They have won 3 of their last 4, though, and were unlucky not to make it 4 in a row when they lost in extra innings to the Baltimore Orioles.
This series is not going to necessarily make or break their playoff chances, but the reality is that they simply cannot afford to lose too many more series coming down the stretch, especially with the teams above them in the Wild Card picking up wins on a fairly regular basis. The good news for the Rays is that they have discovered a little bit of an offensive spark of late, and they are going to need all of that against the Yankees. Chris Archer (12-10, 2.78 ERA) will be the man on the mound for Tampa on Sunday.
It took a 3-game series against a struggling Atlanta Braves team for the Yankees (74-58) to get their groove back. What looked like being a rough week ended on a positive note with a sweep of the Braves, with a total of 38 runs scored in the 3 games. The Yankees then followed that up by taking 2 of 3 from the Red Sox, yet they are still a game and a half off the blistering pace being set by the Toronto Blue Jays atop the AL East. The Yankees need to simply focus on what they are doing right now, as they still have 7 games to come against Toronto, which are the games which are the most likely deciders of who will be the division winner and who will need to go the Wild Card route. Ivan Nova (5-7, 4.50 ERA) enters Sunday’s game on a 3-game losing skid.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bets
If the Tampa Bay Rays are going to steal at least one game in New York this weekend, this will be their best opportunity to do so. I think they get the win with Archer on the mound.
