Atlanta vs Philadelphia MLB Game Information

There are a number of great divisional and playoff races going on at the moment, but there is also one that is taking place among the teams that are in the basement of their respective divisions. That would be the race to the worst record, which would mean the top pick in the next draft. We’ll get an idea as well as MLB betting fans of just how badly these teams want that pick when the Atlanta Braves close out a 3-game series in Philly on Wednesday.

Atlanta Braves vs Philadelphia Phillies MLB Game Information

Date/Time: Wednesday September 9, 7:05 PM ET
Venue: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Radio: WCNN 680/WYAY 106.7, Braves Radio Network
Opening Lines: Atlanta -125, Philadelphia +115

It has been the lackluster performances of the Atlanta Braves (55-83) in the second half of the season that has seen them drop down as far as they have. They have only won 2 of their last 21 games, and broke out of a 12-game losing skid when they managed to pick up a win against the Phillies in the first game of this series. No-one really expects them to pick up too many more wins along the way, as they have a pretty brutal schedule over the final few weeks of the season. This has been a pretty awful season for the Braves, but not one that was totally unexpected.

It was made very clear at the start of the season that a rebuilding effort was in place, and that things might be rough until the new stadium in Atlanta opens its doors. Julio Teheran (9-7, 4.51 ERA) is coming off a very good start, where he only gave up a single earned run.

Things have been pretty bad in Philadelphia (53-85) for a couple of years now, but the fans have continued to show their support, albeit in ever dwindling numbers. That seems to have come to an end, though, as a little over 15,000 paying customers were in the seats on Monday night versus the Braves. Admittedly, it’s hard to get excited about a series against a team that is almost as bad as you, but it may also serve as a sign that the Phillies fans are getting more than a little fed up with a rebuilding project that seemingly has no end in sight.

It’s going to be interesting to see what those attendance numbers look like in the final 3 weeks of the season. Adam Morgan (5-5, 4.42 ERA) will be on the mound for the Phillies in this one.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bet

If either of these teams were tanking it to get that top draft pick, we would likely be unable to tell. That is just how bad the both are. Judging by game 1 of this series, the Braves seem intent on winning, so let’s give them the nod in this one, too.
