Thursday’s Game Preview & MLB Odds: Blue Jays vs. Indians
The National League standings in the early going are not really what we expected to see, as we have a couple of surprise teams leading the divisions there right now. That is not the case in the American League, though, as the teams who are leading the way are very much the teams that we all believed would be in the playoff hunt this season. That said, no team has really taken control and built a dominant lead, and you could argue that the Cleveland Indians are only on top of the Central Division because the four other teams in there are so poor, which is why they constantly dominate the MLB odds to win.
The AL East is quickly turning into a dogfight between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees, but you have to give the rebuilding Toronto Blue Jays for hanging in there with the big boys in the early going, although they are starting to show some signs of struggling. This one is the second game of a doubleheader set for Thursday afternoon, and it could be a fun series to watch and wager on with the home team favored by the latest MLB betting lines.
Let’s take a look while making some predictions!

Why Consider the MLB Odds for the Blue Jays?
At 17-13 in the early going, the Toronto Blue Jays are probably well ahead of where we all thought they would be at this point in the season. While being way down the standings in team batting average, this team has still managed to be top 5 in runs scored, as they seem to be very adept at manufacturing runs out of nothing. As good as this start has been for the Blue Jays, there are some signs that they may be starting to slide, as they are just 4-6 in their last 10 games.
Their long-term issue is going to be with their pitching staff, with the starters only delivering 7 quality starts this season, worst in the MLB. This is a team that is going to need to keep those runs coming if they are to stay above .500. It will be Joe Biagini, a relief pitcher thus far, who will get his first start of the season.
Why Consider the MLB Odds for the Indians?
The general feeling was that the AL Central was the Cleveland Indians for the taking, especially when you consider that they are leaps and bounds ahead of the other 4 teams in terms of talent. The Indians have built up an early lead, but part of that is because the other teams in the division are all sitting below .500 at the moment. It’s a bit of a slow start for the Indians, but one that is very similar to what they delivered last season.
This was a team that exploded in the second half of last season, and you get the sense that this group is still easing into the 2018 season. The bats have really failed to get going so far, and it has been pitching that has been helping this team win. It will be Adam Plutko making his first career start for the Indians in this one.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
It’s tough to know what to expect here with a couple of new pitchers on the mound, but I would guess scoring. All of Cleveland’s last 7 games have gone OVER, so expect more of the same.
Score: Toronto Blue Jays 6 – Cleveland Indians 5
