Detroit vs Baltimore MLB Betting Preview
We are now at the point in the baseball season where tough decisions need to be made. The trade deadline is now just hours away, and there are still some teams who seem to be trying to decide whether to buy or sell. The Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles fall into that category, and these two teams may look a little different when their 4-game series comes to an end on Sunday. The second game of that series is set for Friday night in Baltimore. Find the latest MLB odds here.

As last week drew to a close, the feeling was that the Orioles (51-49) might be a team looking to sell at the trade deadline. What a difference a week makes. The O’s have reeled off 5 straight wins, including a sweep of the Braves, and are now just a game back of Minnesota for the final Wild Card berth. If management believes that this team has a legitimate shot at getting into the postseason, then they are going to have to decide where they need the most help.
There are arguments to be made for both pitching and offense, so this is not a decision that will be made lightly. Given how well the Yankees are playing right now, the Wild Card would appear the most likely way in for the O’s, but only with some fresh blood added to the line-up. Wei-Yin Chen (5-6, 2.88 ERA) will be shooting for back to back wins when he takes to the mound on Friday.
It might well be time for the Detroit Tigers (49-52) to shake things up a little, which would mean that they would be sellers at the trade deadline. This is a team that is pretty well balanced, but which has been unable to have their pitching and offense go well at the same time. They have been pretty solid defensively of late, but the bats have gone ridiculously cold at the same time. The end result is that they have been unable to win any of the 4 series they have played in to begin the second half, which has left them hopelessly adrift in the division and Wild Card races. Buck Farmer (0-2, 9.22 ERA) will get his fourth start of the season on Friday. As his ERA suggests, Farmer has been shelled in his first three starts.

A slumping offense and a pitcher who can’t keep the opposition at bay is a combination from hell, and that is what the Tigers are going to have to deal with here. I like the Orioles to keep their good run of form going in this one.
