Tight MLB Betting Pick On Chicago Cubs vs Pittsburgh Pirates
There are only two weekends left in the baseball season, and if they are as dramatic as what we just had, then we are all in for a real treat. One race worth watching is in the NL Central, where the St. Louis Cardinals lead is now under threat from the Pittsburgh Pirates. It’s going to be a tough start to the week for the men from the Steel City, though, as they have to face the Chicago Cubs in a 4-game series at PNC Park. Tuesday afternoon will see these two play the first game of a doubleheader. Be sure to check for more sports betting odds by clicking here.

Given the option, every team would rather enter the playoffs as a division champion as opposed to having to go the Wild Card route. It looked for the longest time as though the Pirates (86-56) were going to have to settle for the latter option, but they have suddenly closed the gap at the top of the division to 2.5 games, and are looming large. Pittsburgh has made up 4 games on the Cardinals over the last 10 starts, but know they will have a tough go if it against a very good Cubs team, which they then have to follow up with a series against the LA Dodgers. If they can come through this week with a winning record, the final week of the season, and their series against the Cardinals in particular, is going to be something to watch. Gerrit Cole (16-8, 2.54 ERA) will get the start in the first game of the doubleheader.
Despite posting a 4-3 record, the Chicago Cubs (82-60) are still sure to be unhappy with the way things worked out. They got things off to a great start by taking 2 of 3 from the Cardinals, followed by a pair of wins against the Phillies. The disappointment will come from dropping the final 2 games of the series against a Philadelphia team that was very much there for the taking. Of greater concern has to be the performance of the pitching staff over those 2 games, as surrendering 14 runs to a pretty bad ball club is certainly not what the doctor ordered. The chances of the Cubs falling out of the Wild Card spot are slim to none, but they will not want to get in the habit of giving away games if they want their playoff appearance to be an extended one. Jason Hammel (8-6, 3.59 ERA) will start for the Cubs.

I expect this to be a pretty tight series from start to finish, and would not be surprised to see a split. As for this game, I think the Pirates will come up with the win.
