Top MLB Series Parlay Picks Of The Weekend (April 29th)
Baltimore Orioles (14-6) at New York Yankees (13-7)
Saturday, April 29, 1:05 PM ET at Yankee Stadium
New York -115
Ubaldo Jimenez – R
The O’s will hand the ball to veteran right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez (1-0, 5.95 ERA) as he looks to bounce back from a horrific start in which he allowed three earned runs on three hits in just 3.1 inning of a 6-3 win over Tampa Bay on Monday.
Michael Pineda – R
New York will turn to right-hander Michael Pineda (2-1, 3.86 ERA) but he’s also looking to rebound after giving up three earned runs on five hits, including a pair of home runs, in just 5.0 innings of New York’s 11-5 rout over Pittsburgh last Saturday.
The Orioles have won six of their last eight games heading into Friday night’ series opener while New York has won three of four and seven of their last 10 games overall. Baltimore is ranked a stellar third in team ERA and fifth in quality starts while New York ranks sixth in runs scored per game (4.9) and a stupendous second in team ERA (2.95).
With Ubaldo Jimenez getting smacked around in at least three of his starts this season and Michael Pineda allowing at least one home run in each of his four starts this season, I’m thinking the Over 9 runs is the bet pick to make. The Over is 12-3 in Jimenez’s last 15 starts with four days of rest and 15-7-1 in his last 23 starts overall. The Over is also 6-1 in Michael Pineda’s last seven home starts and 4-1 in Pineda’s last 5 starts overall.
Pick: Over 9 Runs
New York Mets (8-13) at Washington Nationals (16-6)
Saturday, April 29, 1:05 PM ET at Nationals Park
New York Mets
Zack Wheeler – R
The Mets will hand the ball to right-hander Zack Wheeler (1-2, 5.40 ERA) as he makes his fourth start after coming back from Tommy John surgery. Unfortunately, Wheeler was smacked around for four earned runs on four hits in 7.0 innings of New York’s 6-3 loss to Washington on Sunday.
Stephen Strasburg – R
The Nats will turn to ace right-hander Stephen Strasburg (2-0, 2.89 ERA) returns from the paternity list following the birth of his child. The good news for Washington is that Strasburg has tossed an identical seven innings in each of his four starts this season while limiting the opposition to an identical two runs in three of those starts, including each of his last two outings.
The Mets are currently in last place in the NL East and have lost six straight games and nine of their last 10 while Washington has won three straight and a blistering nine of their last 10 games overall. With Stephen Strasburg throwing the ball extremely well right now and Washington leading all of baseball in scoring, the Washington Nationals are the easy pick to win this game by at least three runs at the very least.
Pick: Washington 6 New York 2
Los Angeles Angels (12-12) at Texas Rangers (10-12)
Saturday, April 29, 7:15 PM EDT, Globe Life Park in Arlington
Jesse Chavez – R
The Halos will hand the ball to right-hander Jesse Chavez (2-3, 4.12 ERA) and that’ a good thing with Chavez limiting the opposition to one earned run in three of his four starts this season. Chavez tossed 6.0 innings of four-hit baseball in the Angels’ 2-1 win over Toronto on Monday and has the lowest ERA (4.13) of any regular Angels’ starter.
Yu Darvish – R
The Rangers will hand the ball to ace right-hander Yu Darvish and that’s a plus for Texas with the gifted hurler limiting the opposition to two earned runs or less in three of his four starts this season. Darvish allowed two runs in eight innings of Texas’ 5-2 win over Kansas City on Sunday.
While Los Angeles has the slightly better record coming into this matchup, I fully believe that the Texas Ranger are the right pick behind the supremely gifted Yu Darvish. The Angels are just 1-7 in their last eight road games and 0-6 in their last six road dates against a team with a losing record. Conversely, Texas has gone 6-2 in its last eight home dates and 5-2 in their last seven games overall.
The Rangers are also 7-1 in Yu Darvish’s last eight starts against the Angels while the Halos have gone 1-4 in their last five road games against the Rangers. Texas wins a thriller by one run.
Pick: Texas 3 L.A. 2
