Toronto vs Los Angeles MLB Free Picks
There was a time, back in the early 90’s, when the Toronto Blue Jays were the hottest ticket in baseball. There have been some lean years since then, though, but this season is beginning to look like a throwback to those halcyon days, with the Jays in the thick of a division title race. They will be in LA this weekend to face the Angels, and will finish up the MLB betting series on Sunday.

You really can’t say enough about the moves that the Jays (66-55) made at the trade deadline, as it transformed them into an overnight success. They went on a tear to start August, putting together an 11-game win streak that saw them overtake the Yankees atop the AL East. There has been a bit of a cooling off period of late, though, as they dropped a series at home to the Yankees last weekend, and then somehow inexplicably split a series with the Philadelphia Phillies. You get the sense that those losses are just a minor bump in the road, though, and that the 7 games that they still have to play against the Yankees this season is what will ultimately decide the division. Veteran knuckleballer R.A. Dickey (7-10, 4.14 ERA) will be on the mound for the Jays, who have won the last 6 games he has been the starter.
The Angels (63-58) came into this week knowing that another string of defeats would likely see them fall out of the final Wild Card spot in the AL. They responded very well, taking 3 of 4 from the Chicago White Sox, which allowed them to maintain a half game lead over the Baltimore Orioles. That lead still looks very shaky, though, and this series is a test that they will want to pass with flying colors as they head into a stretch of games against teams with sub .500 records. The good news for the Angels is that they are still in control of their own destiny right now, but any type of losing streak in the coming weeks could see that taken away. Garrett Richards (12-9, 3.50 ERA) will take to the hill for the Angels on Sunday.
Key Betting Trends
- Toronto is 13-3 SU in its last 16 games
- Toronto is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games on the road
- LA Angels is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games at home
- LA Angels is 7-2 SU in its last 9 games when playing at home against Toronto
It looked for a while as though R.A. Dickey was at the end of the road, but he has made a brilliant U-turn of late. I think he will frustrate the Angels and allow his team to get the win.
