Weather can often get in the way of a good party, but at least in baseball you usually get the chance to reschedule the celebrations the next day. That is what the Toronto Blue Jays faced when their Tuesday game with the Orioles was washed out. They will play a doubleheader in Baltimore on Wednesday, which is when the Jays will likely clinch the division. The final game of the series is set for Thursday with no MLB lines listed at the time of writing.

The temptation to rest a few guys must be there for the Blue Jays (91-65), but even after they clinch, they still have the top seed in the AL to play for. Home field throughout the playoffs is a pretty big prize, which leads me to believe that Toronto will be going all out to snag it. The Rogers Center has been a tough place to visit for opposing teams this season, as fans have been coming out in droves to support a team that is beginning to look a lot like the World Series winners of the early 90’s. The Blue Jays remain as hot as ever, and took their current win streak to 5 with a win over Baltimore on Monday. They will close out the regular season with 3 games on the road in Tampa Bay, after which they will return home to prepare for their first postseason appearance in 22 years. David Price (18-5, 2.45 ERA) will be looking to make it 6 wins in a row on Thursday. There are many teams who have a lot of areas to be addressed in their line-up, but it’s fair to say that the Baltimore Orioles (76-80) are not necessarily one of them. That could all change if they decide to let some of their impending free agents go, but should they all stay, it is really only the starting rotation that needs the real work. Pitching has been a problem for the O’s all year, and is one of the major reasons that this team has been so infuriatingly inconsistent. The bones of a good team are definitely in place, but they need a little bit more meat in the pitching department if they are to keep pace with the Toronto Blue Jays next season. Tyler Wilson (2-2, 3.60 ERA) will get the start for the Orioles.
