Texas vs Houston MLB Betting Preview
You can look all you want, but you won’t find a bigger series this weekend than the one that pits the Texas Rangers against the Houston Astros. One of those two teams is going to win the AL West, and it is likely the team that takes this series who will have the momentum required to take all the spoils. The final of the 3 games is set for Sunday in Houston. Find the latest MLB Odds here.
Texas Rangers vs Houston Astros MLB Betting Preview
Date: Sunday, September 27, 2015
Venue: Minute Maid Park
Opening Line: Houston -235
The Texas Rangers (83-69) have to be the favorites to win the West, as they have a 3.5 game lead, and are playing some terrific ball right now. They didn’t just get the sweep in their last series against the A’s, they totally blew them out of the water in considerable style. The Texas bats are hotter than Georgia asphalt right now, and it is going to take a Herculean pitching effort to slow them down. The Astros weren’t able to do it when they were swept by the Rangers recently, as they gave up 33 runs over the 4-game series. Texas really hasn’t slowed down since then, and it looks as though that 3.5 game lead might as well be 33.5. Martin Perez (3-5, 5.21 ERA) will be on the mound for the Rangers on Sunday.
If we are going to be totally honest, the Houston Astros (80-73) are in some real trouble. A loss this weekend will likely send the division title out of their reach, but worse than that, it may even put their Wild Card hopes in real jeopardy. They are holding on to that final spot by a game and a half, but losing 2 of 3 to the LA Angels, who are one of the teams bearing down on them certainly did not help their cause. The Astros are just 3-7 in their last 10 games, and look like a team totally devoid of any sort of confidence right now. I think they would even settle for 2 out of 3 against the Rangers. While that would not be enough to really close the gap at the top, it may well be enough to give them some much needed confidence heading into the final week of the season. Dallas Keuchel (18-8, 2.51 ERA) will be the man on the mound for the Astros.

Keuchel was hurt very hard by the Rangers the last time he faced them. It was definitely an uncharacteristic start for him, and one I don’t expect to see repeated here. I like the Astros to steal the win in this one.
