Detroit Tigers vs Kansas City Royals MLB Free PicksDate/Time: Tuesday, August 11th, 8:10 PM Venue: Ewing M. Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, MO TV: FSKC, MLBN Radio: KCSP 610 Opening Line: Kansas City -145 While that series win was nice for the Tigers, the reality is that the Royals (66-44) have a division lead so large as to be almost untouchable at this point. Their 11.5 game lead in the most comfortable in baseball right now, and it would be a stunner of epic proportions to see them lose it. The Royals went through what could be described as a bit of a rough patch, losing back to back series to the Jays and the Tigers. They shrugged those losses off, though, sweeping the Chicago White Sox over the weekend to get things back to normal. It’s worth noting that those losses came on the road, where KC is just 3 games over .500. Expect them to roll right back into form at home, where they are a very impressive 37-18 this year. Yordano Ventura (6-7, 5.29 ERA) has had a rough couple of starts of late, and will need to do better to get the win here. The Tigers (54-57) ended up being pretty big sellers at the deadline, and have settled into a life of .500 ball since then. Consistency has been an issue for them all season long, and that was once again highlighted last week. They had a great series win over the Royals, but then followed that up by losing 2 of 3 to the woeful Boston Red Sox. They are now going on the road for an 8-game trip that will see them face 3 teams who are all very much in the playoff hunt. They are only 2 game under .500 on the road this season, but you get the sense that it could be whole lot worse than that by the time that they head back to Detroit. Anibal Sanchez (10-9, 4.83 ERA) will start for the Tigers. His last start was against the Royals last week, where he gave up 4 runs while taking a no decision.
