Updated World Series Expert Predictions
There was a period of time when the Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs were thought of as nothing more than punchlines in the MLB, but com Tuesday night, both teams will be taking a run at the World Series. For the Cubs, this will be their first appearance in a World Series in over 70 years, which is a stunning amount of time when you consider that they are one of the most storied franchises in all of professional sports. The Cleveland Indians haven’t won it all since 1948, but have at least had a couple of appearances in the championship series in the 90’s to hang their hats on. Both teams have made it look pretty easy in the postseason so far, so we can only hope that they match up well, and that we get a series to remember. The betting odds have been set, and it is the Cubs who come in as a favorite. Let’s take a closer look at their prices.
Here’s A Closer Look At The Updated World Series Expert Predictions
Chicago Cubs to Win the World Series (-210)
Including the postseason, the Chicago Cubs have put together 110 wins this year, so it’s no real surprise that they would be coming into this one as the favorite. They won the NLDS by beating the Giants in 4 games, and then had a bit of a scare in the NLCS when they ended up going down 2-1 to the Dodgers. Any doubts that people may have had about this team at that point were quickly erased when the Cubs took the next 3 to win the series, winning those games by a combined score of 23-6. The Cubs are averaging 4.8 runs per game in the postseason while giving up 3.0 runs per game. Their pitching has not been the greatest in the postseason, but when you have an offense that can overpower anyone, you always have a shot at winning.
Cleveland Indians to Win the World Series (+175)
While the Cubs may have the best win/loss record in baseball this year, let’s not forget that the Indians have also won over 100 games on the season, if you include the playoffs. Not only that, the Indians have totally breezed through the postseason, dropping just 1 game along the way. If this team is going to win it all, they are probably going to do it with pitching. The offense has averaged 3 runs per game on the way to winning the AL, but defensively, Cleveland Indians have given up just 1.7 runs per game through this impressive postseason run. The Indians haven’t really been tested yet, and they have been sitting around for a while now to see who they will be facing. They may need to shake off a little rust in Game 1 on Tuesday night.
World Series Prediction
For the longest time now, we have all wondered if anyone would be able to take down the Cubs over a 7-game series. I don’t think that anyone can, but I do believe that the Indians will give them a run for their money. I am taking the Cubs in 6.
