New York vs Boston MLB Free Picks
As far as baseball betting rivalries go, they don’t come much bigger or nastier than the Yankees and the Red Sox. The fact that these two are in the same division and see each other on a regular basis only serves to make the hatred even stronger. It’s been a down period for both of these teams, but it looks as though the Yankees are about to return to the playoffs. The Red Sox will do all they can to halt that progress when they welcome New York to Fenway Park on Tuesday night.

The Yankees (72-57) are coming into this series on a 3-game winning streak, but have been unable to make up any ground on the division leading Toronto Blue Jays. They sit a game and a half off the pace, but have a real chance to take the division title in the final few weeks of the season. Of the 33 games that still remain on the Yankees schedule, 26 of them are against division foes, including 7 against the Blue Jays. The Yankees stumbled out of the gate last week, losing 2 of 3 to the Houston Astros, but bounced right back to deliver a crushing 3-game sweep to the Atlanta Braves, scoring a staggering 38 runs in the process. The highlight of that series had to be the 20 runs they put on the board on Sunday afternoon. If they can keep the bats hot, they could take advantage of a poor Red Sox pitching staff. Michael Pineda (9-8, 4.19 ERA) will try to break out of a 3-game losing skid on Tuesday night.
To the surprise of just about everyone, the Boston Red Sox (60-70) managed to put together yet another winning record last week. There has been a definite shift in fortunes since Dave Dombrowski took over as team president, although it is very much a case of too little too late. The Red Sox took 2 of 3 from the Chicago White Sox to get the ball rolling, and then sprung the major upset by taking 2 of 3 from the New York Mets. It really is beginning to look as though the Red Sox are going to be more than willing to accept the role of spoiler in the final few weeks of the season, and they would love nothing more than to put a dent in the division title hopes of the New York Yankees. Rick Porcello (6-11, 5.47 ERA) pitched a gem in his last start, throwing 7 scoreless innings against the White Sox.

Pineda was on the mound to face the Red Sox back in the early part of July, and he pitched a beauty on that day. I’m looking for more of the same here, and I expect the Yankees to continue rolling.
