New York vs Minnesota MLB Betting Preview
Playing well in the first half of the season is important, but it can all be for naught if the momentum built during that part of the season is killed off in the second half. The New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins are sure to be pleased with their efforts so far, but if they hope to feature in the postseason, now is the time when they have to really start digging in and picking up wins. These two are heading into a 3-game series in Minnesota, with the second game set for Saturday night with no clear MLB betting favorites.
New York Yankees vs Minnesota Twins MLB Betting Preview
Time: Saturday 7:10 p.m. ET
Venue: Target Field, Minneapolis
National TV: none
Opening line: Yankees -105, Twins -105 (8.5)
The New York Yankees have certainly started the second half with some real intent, as they have gone 5-1 through their first 6 games. They started out with a sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays, which was what helped them start to open up a real gap at the top of the division. The other teams in the AL East are continuing to sputter along, which is helping the Yankees start to open things up.
The challenge for the Yankees begins now, though, as those first 6 games came at home, where New York has been dominant all year long. They will now head out for 10 games, but have the benefit of playing a pair of series against teams that are under the .500 mark. CC Sabathia (4-8, 5.25 ERA) will start for the Yankees on Saturday. He has been a little rocky all season, but has been excellent in his last 2 starts.
The Minnesota Twins (51-44) have a tough task ahead of them in their division race, as it looks as though the Royals have a stranglehold in the Central. Much like the Yankees, the Twins have had their struggles on the road this season, and that became very evident when they went 2-4 on a 6-game road trip to start the second half. Minnesota will now have a 9-game home stand where they will hope to be able to improve on a very impressive 31-16 record. The Twins will be a team looking for some help at the trade deadline, and it would not be a surprise to see them make some moves to help strengthen a weak bullpen. Tommy Milone (5-2, 3.38 ERA) will be on the mound for the Twins, and will be looking to avoid taking back to back losses.

Consider This Before Placing Your Bets
The common sense pick here would be to take the Twins to win at home right now, especially given the Yankees road troubles, but New York looks like a team on a mission right now. That is why I think the Yankees will get the win.
