Arguably the worst starting pitcher in the majors this season has been Baltimore’s Dan Straily. He might be pitching for his job Wednesday night with his Orioles as huge MLB betting underdogs against the visiting New York Yankees.

Why Bet on NY Yankees?
The Yankees got a very unlikely win in the series opener, rallying from down 6-1 to win 10-7. Gary Sanchez hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the ninth. The Yankees came back from a 6-1 deficit to win the game. Sanchez also had an RBI single in the sixth. He has 13 homers and 26 RBI in a bounce-back season.
Gleyber Torres hit a pair of solo homers against the Orioles in Monday’s win, already his fifth career multi-homer game in his second season. Torres is a really good young hitter, but his numbers wouldn’t be quite so impressive if he didn’t get to face the horrible Orioles pitching staff so frequently; 11 of his 34 homers in the majors have come versus Baltimore.
Outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (biceps, shoulder) homered in one of his three plate appearances in his first rehab game with High-A Tampa on Monday. The Yankees haven’t revealed how many rehab games Stanton will require, but he probably needs a decent number of at-bats considering that he’s been out since April 1.
The Yankees are looking to win six straight series for the first time since winning seven in-a-row from 4/19-5/13/18. They are 9-1 in their last nine series after going 1-4 in their first five. The Yankees have not been shut out in 129 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the majors. They have not been shut out since 6/30/18 vs. Boston (11-0 loss) and are one of two teams yet to be shut out in 2019 (Milwaukee).
It’s lefty CC Sabathia for New York. Sabathia allowed one run on six hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings Friday in a no-decision against the Rays. Sabathia’s lone run surrendered came in the fourth inning on a solo homer, though he’d exit the contest in a tie ballgame. The 38-year-old southpaw has been impressive this season, holding his opponents to three or fewer runs in six of his seven starts. Sabathia owns a 2.97 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with a 27:15 K:BB through 36.1 innings.

Why Bet on Baltimore?
Mychal Givens took a blown save and a loss after giving up five runs in 1 1/3 innings against the Yankees on Monday. Givens, who gave up just four homers in 76 2/3 innings last season, allowed two longballs tonight. The runs were the first he’d given up since April 24. He’s allowed eight runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Yankees this season and three runs in 15 2/3 innings versus the rest of the league. The Birds dropped to 15-2 when leading after eight innings this year.
Trey Mancini drove in the game’s first run with his RBI double in the first inning. It was his team-leading 15th double of the season; entered play tied for third in the AL in doubles. It was also his team-leading 25th extra-base hit; entered play tied for fourth in the AL in extra-base hits. Mancini is now hitting .421 (16-for-38) with 10 runs scored in the first inning; his 16 first inning hits are tied for the third-most in the majors and his 10 first inning runs are tied for fourth-most. He’s also hitting .367 (18-for-49) against left-handed pitchers.
DH Mark Trumbo has yet to play this season off a knee procedure but is expected to begin playing the field in extended spring training games soon.
Baltimore’s Dan Straily allowed four earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out one across 3.1 innings Thursday against the Indians. He did not factor in the decision. Straily had managed a respectable effort through two innings but unraveled in the third inning, allowing four of the first five batters he faced to reach base.
After allowing a leadoff hit in the fourth inning and getting one out, Straily was pulled from the game though was ultimately charged with another earned run after Gabriel Ynoa allowed his inherited runner to score. Straily has been terrible through 30.2 innings this season, posting a 1.89 WHIP and 8.51 ERA.
